Multiplication tables aren’t just about memorising answers.

They help children recognise patterns, understand how numbers work together, and build strong number sense.

When students practise tables consistently, their brains begin to spot patterns, like how numbers grow in equal steps or how multiplication connects to addition and division. This makes maths faster, more logical, and far less overwhelming.

With these foundations in place, children can focus on problem solving and higher level thinking instead of stopping to work out every simple calculation.

Sculpture by the Sea is BACK at Cottesloe Beach, and I couldn't be more excited!

There's something truly magical about wandering along the coast surrounded by incredible works of art — and it's a wonderful opportunity to start having conversations with our little ones about creativity and personal expression.

Here are some fun ways to talk about art sculptures with your kids:

👐 Talk about materials, colours, and textures — "What do you think it's made of?" Start with what they can see and touch. Curiosity always beats knowing the 'right' answer!

🤔 Wonder together — View the sculpture from different angles and distances, then read the title of the piece. You might be surprised how much the title changes the way you see it!

💬 Ask how it makes them feel — It's fun to discover how similarly or differently your child feels about a sculpture compared to you.

🎨 Compare and contrast — "Which one is your favourite, and why?" This helps build critical thinking in a totally fun way.
