🥞La chandeleur🥞
Every year, 40 days after Christmas, French people celebrate "la chandeleur". It is an old christian celebration (presentation of Jesus at the Temple) which also brings with it a few superstitions.
For example: Some say that making crêpes on la chandeleur will bring you money during the year...

🇫🇷Le 8 mai🇫🇷
The 8th of May in France is "un jour férié" -a public holiday- in order to commemorate the end and "la Victoire" - the victory- of WWII.
👉On the 8th of May 1945, Charles de Gaulle announced the end of "la seconde guerre mondiale" -World War II- and the Victory of the Allies.

🇫🇷La fête du travail🇫🇷
Each year, on the 1st of May in France, we celebrate "la fête du travail" -labour day.
👉It is "un jour férié" - a public holiday. Usually, it means that people are off work, all the shops are closed and there is very few public transport available.
👉On this day, the tradition is to give "un brin de muguet" - a bit of lilly of the valley- for good luck. If you walked the streets of France on the 1st f May, you would probably see people selling these flowers in front of their house.
👉Sometimes, "on fait le pont". For example, if "le premier Mai" -the first of May- is on a thursday, we would take friday off in order to have a longer week-end. This is what we call "Faire le pont", it is like having a long week-end.
