This week, we dusted off the old photo albums and took a trip down memory lane, celebrating the journey from student to staff in public education. As part of Public Education Week 2026, we're reflecting on the opportunities, impact, and lifelong connections that public education creates. Here are a few familiar faces, with a special shout-out to their own public school beginnings.

Today, Yawarra Community School celebrated NAIDOC with our students, families, staff, and community.
The afternoon featured NAIDOC themed activities, a student awards ceremony, and a community BBQ lunch. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and come together as a school community.

Today, we proudly presented at SEPLACON 2026, sharing Yawarra Community School’s journey in adapting the Westmead Feelings Program to better support students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities.
We are incredibly proud of the work our team has done to make social emotional learning more accessible and meaningful for our students, and excited to continue our collaboration with the Westmead Feelings Program team from the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.
