My goodness Dubbo, we have been blown away by the support we received today with our winter carnival.
The sun was shining and the Dubbo community showed up! We have estimated roughly 300+ people walked under our balloon arch to support our event and our wonderful stallholders.

🚌 Our First Big Adventure! 🚌

Today our brave little preschool explorers hopped aboard the bus, waved goodbye to Carlton House, and set off on a grand adventure to visit Ranger Danni and Ranger Steph at Taronga Western Plains Zoo

As soon as we arrived, we tip‑toed across the famous “Wobbly Bridge” (which caused great excitement and a few giggles!) and headed into the Education Centre, where we were greeted by a very friendly lizard and a chilled‑out turtle who seemed quite pleased to meet us.

Ranger Danni and Ranger Steph shared wonderful stories about habitats and why birds, insects and tiny creatures need safe places to call home. Then we joined a yarning circle outdoors and created our very own wildlife habitats — busy hands, curious minds, and plenty of imagination on display.

Back inside, the rangers surprised us with even more animal friends to pat. The highlight of the day was meeting Maison the ringtail possum, who instantly became everyone’s new favourite furry friend.

What an incredible day of learning, exploring, and wide‑eyed wonder. Our first excursion was a huge success — and we’re already dreaming about the next adventure!

🐛 🕷️ WOW Encounters 🕷️ 🐛

Today Carlton House turned into a tiny jungle as Dave from Wow Encounters arrived with his suitcase full of creepy crawly creatures.

The children were absolutely delighted — leaning in close, asking curious questions, and showing off their bravest “I‑can‑handle‑this” faces. Through all the giggles and gentle squeals, they were building language skills, strengthening scientific thinking (observing, predicting, comparing), and practising social‑emotional skills like confidence, care, and respectful curiosity for living things.

There were tiny hands hovering over beetles, careful eyes tracking speedy critters, and proud little voices sharing discoveries with friends. It was hands‑on learning at its quirkiest — the Carlton House way — where nature, wonder, and a sprinkle of bravery come together.

A wonderfully wild day of learning, laughter, and legs… so many legs.
