With all this rainy weather engaging in playdough is a favourite way to spend our day. So we wanted to share one of our favourite things to give you ideas for these cold/ rainy days we have happening.

🥕🍎 FELT FOOD IN PLAY EXPERIENCES 🍎🥕

Following the children's interests, Preschool have been engaging the children in home corner by using felt foods, creating new opportunities for imaginative and meaningful play.

Using felt foods encourages children to engage in role play as they prepare meals, go shopping, serve friends and recreate real-life experiences. Through these interactions, children develop their communication and language skills, build confidence in social situations, and learn important concepts such as turn-taking, sharing and cooperation.

The felt foods also support early mathematical thinking as children sort, count and group different items, while strengthening their creativity and problem-solving skills through open-ended play.

By following the children's interests, we create engaging learning environments that inspire curiosity, foster independence and support children's development in a fun and meaningful way.

👑 LONG WEEKEND REMINDER 👑

A friendly reminder to all our Goodstart Cobra Street families that our centre will be closed on Monday, 8th June 2026 for the King's Birthday public holiday.

We hope everyone enjoys a wonderful long weekend filled with family time, relaxation and fun.

We look forward to welcoming all our children and families back on Tuesday, 9th June 2026 from 7am.

🌧️🧥 WINTER WEATHER REMINDER 🧥🌧️

With the weather forecast looking cold and wet this week, we kindly ask families to please check your child’s school bag each day to ensure they have warm clothing readily available.

Please make sure your child has:
• A warm jumper
• Spare clothes (including socks and underwear)
• Suitable enclosed footwear for outdoor play

To help us return belongings to the right owner, please ensure all clothing, shoes, and jumpers especially are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Today at Goodstart Cobra Street, we recognise National Sorry Day — a time to reflect, acknowledge and show respect to the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.

As educators, we are committed to creating a learning environment where children develop understanding, respect and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives.
