🎉 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟔 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐫𝐚𝐩-𝐔𝐩! 🎉
Last week, DSODE hosted a huge Faculty Residential with over 90 students participating in workshops across a wide range of subjects, including Agriculture, Chemistry, Entertainment, Health & Movement Science, Hospitality, Japanese Continuers, Mathematics Extension 2, Modern History, Physics, Primary Industries, Textiles & Design, and Visual Arts.
To our students — thank you for embracing new challenges and fully engaging in your workshops. The DSODE teachers were impressed with your behaviour and dedication. Please watch for the Faculty Residential student survey email and take a few moments to provide your feedback: it’s vital for planning future events.
A big thank you to our amazing SASS team for their invaluable behind-the-scenes support — we truly appreciate you! Thanks also to supervisors, parents, and carers for your efforts in helping students attend; we understand the logistics involved.

📚✍️ 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝟏 𝐭𝐨 𝟔!
We’re excited to announce the annual 'Write On' Writing Competition – a fantastic chance for students to unleash their creativity, develop writing skills, and maybe even become published authors!
This year’s theme is inspired by the prompt:
“It was a small thing, but it made a difference.”
Students are invited to create an imaginative story of up to 500 words based on this stimulus.
As a school, we can submit one entry per stage: Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3.
If your child wants to participate, please send their typed and published entry to 𝑴𝒓𝒔 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚, 12𝒕𝒉 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒆.
This allows time for final selections, parent permission forms, and submission to the competition platform. The competition closes on Friday, 19th June.
Every student who takes part will receive a certificate of participation!
For more details, check out the flyer attached or contact Mrs Hopkins at [email protected].
Happy writing, everyone! ✨📝

🐾📸🐾📸 Our talented students have been busy showcasing their creativity at the Dubbo Show! From Preschool right through to Year 6 and beyond, students proudly entered their work across Photography, Art and Waste to Art sections. 🌟
The Photography section featured some incredible entries in all categories, with students capturing amazing shots that earned them first, second, and even a couple of Champions. 🐶🐦🐠
We also had some fantastic results in the Art sections, including a first and second for the Preschool decorated pinecones
Our Years 3–6 students also entered their creative vases into the Waste to Art section, showing just how imaginative and resourceful our students can be. ♻️✨
We are so proud of all students who entered their work and represented our school with such creativity and enthusiasm. Congratulations to everyone involved! 👏💛

🌟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐊-𝟔 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩! 🌟
Our students had an amazing time filled with learning and adventure. From engaging in school work and preparing local show entries to exploring the wonders of Taronga Western Plains Zoo, every day has been packed with discovery and fun!
A special highlight was welcoming Rachel Mills, who visited to educate us on the importance of hearing and how to properly blow our noses—such valuable lessons for everyone!
Meanwhile, our preschoolers have been busy extending their gross motor skills by building castles, sparking their imagination in the home corner, launching bi-carb and vinegar rocket cars, and sharpening their maths skills during a hands-on cooking class.
Thanks for coming, and we hope to see you all again next term!
