ALUMNI // Congratulations to Danny Barber, 2020 Alumni, who has officially been named in the Australian Cycling Team to make his debut for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games!

The entire Macquarie community wishes Danny the very best, and we are incredibly proud to see him competing on the international stage in the green and gold.

STUDENT SUCCESS // Congratulations to Sophie T., Year 5, on her outstanding achievements at the Dubbo Eisteddfod!

Sophie’s exceptional flute performances earned her the Dubbo Eisteddfod Trophy Encouragement Award for Junior Woodwind Player.

Her results included:
🥇 1st Place – Woodwind Solo (12 years and under)
🥇 1st Place – Woodwind Australian or Modern Solo (12 years and under)
🥉 3rd Place – Graded Woodwind Solo (Preliminary, 1st and 2nd Grades)

We are incredibly proud of Sophie’s hard work and commitment to her music. Congratulations on this fantastic achievement – we look forward to seeing what you accomplish next!

NORTH WEST EQUESTRIAN EXPO // Macquarie students have achieved outstanding success at the North West Equestrian Expo, bringing home 1st place finishes in Barrel Racing, Team Barrels, Time Trial and Hack events.

Congratulations to Chloe H., Isabel S., Tia A., Hannah V., Emily S., Georgia A., Skyla M., Eva S., Alexis N., William S., Hannah N. and Grace T., who proudly represented Macquarie throughout the competition.

Their dedication, horsemanship and teamwork were on full display, contributing to an exceptional set of results across the event.

CIS TOUCH FOOTBALL // Congratulations to Maya C., who has been selected for the CIS Touch Football Team and will now progress to the NSWPSSA State Carnival in Coffs Harbour this August.

Maya proudly represented Macquarie at the CIS Touch Football Trials in Sydney on Wednesday alongside Churchill B., Noah B., William M., Marley B. and Madison R. as part of a combined Barbarians team. The team faced strong opposition across three competitive matches, displaying outstanding determination, teamwork and skill throughout the day.

A special congratulations also goes to Madison R., Marley B. and Maya C., who were selected for the possible–probables match in recognition of their excellent performances and game awareness.

Well done to all students on their achievements and for representing Macquarie with pride. We wish Maya every success at the State Carnival in August!

HICES CROSS COUNTRY // Thirty students proudly represented the school at the HICES Cross Country Championships in Orange.

Despite slippery conditions following heavy rain, our runners showed outstanding determination and sportsmanship, cheering each other on around the course and across the finish line.

Congratulations to all students who competed and gave their best effort on the day.

A special congratulations to Bella L., Harry O., Maggie B., Mitch G. and Maya C., who have qualified for the next round in June.

We wish them all the best in the next stage of competition!

STAFF SUCCESS // Congratulations, Miss Savannah Dimmock!

We are proud to congratulate Miss Dimmock on her selection in the NSW Country Rugby Union Corellas Extended Squad for the 2026 representative season.

TEXTILES // Congratulations to our talented Year 9 and 10 Textiles students on their fantastic success at the Dubbo Show this weekend!

Scarlett M., Year 9, was awarded Most Successful Exhibitor in the Junior Handicrafts Years 7–9 section and Millie M., Year 10, received the CWA Encouragement Award for the Most Outstanding Piece of Embroidery.

Well done also to Claire C., Year 10, who achieved Second Place, and to Kate A., Year 10, Bella H., Year 9, and Holly F., Year 9, who were all awarded Highly Commended.

STUDENT SUCCESS // Congratulations to Mia W., Year 6, on her fantastic achievement at the NSW All Schools MTB Competition in Newcastle!

Mia competed in two challenging events against some of the best riders in the state, including state and national champions, achieving incredible results:

🏅 XC Cross Country Race (approx. 10km) – 8th Place
🏅 Funduro Race – 5th Place

These are outstanding placings at such a high level of competition, and we are incredibly proud of Mia’s determination, skill and sportsmanship. Well done, Mia!
