Tasmanian Youth Forum 2026 🌟
We are incredibly proud of the students who represented our school at the Tasmanian Youth Forum, hosted by YNOT (Youth Network of Tasmania).
The forum was a well-run event that provided a valuable opportunity for young people from across Tasmania to come together, share their perspectives, and contribute ideas on issues that matter to them and their communities. Our students participated thoughtfully and confidently throughout the day, engaging in discussions and collaborating with other young people around southern Tasmania.
As a school, we were particularly proud of the insight, maturity, and commitment our students demonstrated as they worked to develop practical solutions to local issues. Their willingness to contribute their ideas and advocate for positive change highlights the important role young people play in shaping the future of our community.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Huon Valley Council for supporting our participation by generously covering the cost of bus hire. This support helped make the opportunity accessible for our students.
We would also like to thank our families for their flexibility and support in dropping students off early and picking them up later than usual. Your partnership enables experiences like these to happen.
A huge congratulations to all of our students who attended. You represented our school with pride, respect, and enthusiasm, and we couldn't be prouder of the contribution you made to the conversations and solutions developed throughout the forum.

📚📖 Book Week Parade - Special Persons Day - Book Fair📖📚
We had a wonderful morning celebrating a 'Symphony of Stories' which was this year's book week parade theme. Our students all looked magnificent, and it was great to see such a big turnout of our special people joining us in the classrooms and for a morning tea. We have already made record sales at the book fair which will get us stacks of new books for the library! The book fair will be open again this afternoon from 2:30pm-3.30pm.😀

This week, some our Year 8 and 9 girls represented the school at the ‘Reclink’ netball event at the Hobart Netball Centre! 🌟 🏐

They showed amazing teamwork and sportsmanship competing against schools from all over Hobart. We are so proud of you all!

A huge thank you to Ms Harrison and Hayley for supporting the girls and driving the bus. 🚌👏

✨🏅Athletic Achievements 🏅✨
Well done to the following students for their outstanding efforts over the past few months!
🏉Precious was selected in the u14 STJFL team to play at Campbell Town and they came away with the win against the Tassie Devils Academy team!
🏃🏃‍♀️Stanley and Dustin represented DDS in the Inter High Cross Country and did a fantastic job!
🏃‍♀️🏃Marley and Ajay battled the rain and mud in the State Primary Cross Country and came away with great results!
💪Ruarigh represented DDS in Launceston at the State Athletics for Shotput making us all very proud! (not pictured)

We are incredibly proud of our high school students who recently showcased their outstanding work at the Southgate Shopping Centre HaSS Exhibition.
Students produced a diverse range of creative and engaging projects exploring Ancient Egypt, The Vikings, Frontier Conflicts, and World War II. Through their research, creativity and presentation skills, our students demonstrated not only their historical knowledge but also the passion, effort and dedication they have invested throughout the first semester.

The exhibition was a wonderful reflection of our school values. Students showed they are Curious through their inquiry and learning, Connected through sharing their knowledge with the wider community, and Caring in the respectful way they engaged with important historical topics and with our visitors.

A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and supported the exhibition. We were delighted to welcome Clare Glade-Wright MLC, Amy Robertson, Huon Valley Councillor, and JP Scheerlinck, Southgate Shopping Centre owner. Your interest, encouragement and support meant a great deal to our students.

Congratulations to all of our exhibitors for representing our school so well. We couldn't be prouder of your achievements!
