Bringing experience together to build capability.

Last week, we had the opportunity to deliver Incident Management Training (IMT) for NSW State Emergency Service staff and volunteers from across the state.

With participants bringing a wide range of experience and backgrounds, the course provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, learn from one another, and strengthen teamwork within an incident management environment.

Throughout the week, participants developed and practised key IMT skills, working through realistic scenarios that challenged them to apply their learning, collaborate effectively, and make informed decisions under pressure.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to a highly engaging and productive week of learning.

A great week delivering the Firefighter Course with Rangers from Melaythenner Teeackana Warrana Aboriginal Corporation across Launceston and Tebrakunna (Cape Portland).

The program combined classroom learning with practical field activities focused on bushfire operations, teamwork, operational readiness, and hands-on firefighting skills using real equipment in a remote environment.

A surprise visitor to the classroom during the week was a rescued paddymelon joey, brought along by one of the Rangers for its regular feeds while in care — definitely a crowd favourite.

Always rewarding to support programs that build local capability, confidence, and connection to Country.

Caflutis? What is Caflutis?

Fortunately, not a real biohazard.

Caflutis is a fictional scenario used in our incident management training to exercise students in incident coordination, operational decision-making, intelligence gathering, and multi-agency response within a realistic emergency management environment.

Always an enjoyable, high-paced way to finish off a week of intensive training, giving participants the opportunity to put their newly developed skills into practice within a dynamic simulated incident environment.
