πŸ“šβœ¨ BOOK WEEK FUN! βœ¨πŸ“š

Our team had so much fun getting into the spirit of Book Week with a little Mr. Men & Little Miss twist! πŸŒˆπŸ“–

From Little Miss Helpful and Little Miss Giggles to Little Miss Brainy, Little Miss Sunshine, Mr Rush and many more, our educators brought some much-loved book characters to life! ❀️

Book Week is such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the magic of stories, imagination and a love of reading with our children. πŸ“šβœ¨

We wonder… which Little Miss or Mr. Men character would you be? πŸ˜„

πŸ„πŸ‘ Our 3-Year-Old Kinder Adventure to Edendale Farm! πŸ“πŸŒΏ

This week, our 3-year-old kinder children headed off on an exciting excursion to Edendale Community Environment Farm!

The children had the opportunity to explore the farm, meet a variety of animals and learn more about how animals are cared for. There was so much excitement as they observed the animals up close, asked questions and shared their discoveries with their friends and educators. πŸπŸ‘πŸ“

A big part of our visit was also learning about sustainability and caring for our environment. πŸŒβ™»οΈ The children explored recycling and worm farms, discovering how we can reduce waste, reuse resources and how our little wriggly worms help turn food scraps into something useful for our gardens. πŸͺ±πŸŒ±

These hands-on experiences help children understand that even small actions can make a difference to our planet and encourage them to think about how they can care for the environment both at kinder and at home. πŸ’š

Excursions like this extend learning beyond the kinder environment, supporting children's curiosity, confidence, communication, independence and connection with the natural world.

What a wonderful day of animals, worms, recycling, exploration and lots of learning for our 3-year-old kinder children! πŸšŒπŸ„πŸͺ±β™»οΈπŸŒΏ

βš½πŸš› Community Adventures & Exciting Discoveries! πŸš›βš½

Today our children enjoyed an adventure out in our local community with a visit to the soccer pitch! ⚽🌿

The children had plenty of space to run, explore, kick the ball and practise their gross motor skills while enjoying the fresh air and being active together.

But the excitement didn’t stop there! On our adventure, the children spotted a garbage truck πŸš› and were fascinated watching it at work. There were lots of excited conversations as they watched how the truck collected the rubbish and talked about what happens to our waste.

These spontaneous moments are such a wonderful part of community excursions, turning everyday experiences into opportunities for curiosity, learning and discovery. πŸ’š

❀️ Connecting Generations at San Carlo ❀️

Our 4-year-old kinder children loved another special visit with our friends at San Carlo Nursing Home. πŸ₯°

Before our visit, the children rolled up their sleeves and made some delicious homemade cookies πŸͺ to share with the residents. They were so proud to deliver their special treats and spend time chatting, laughing and connecting with their older friends.

Our ongoing connection with San Carlo is such a valued part of our kinder program. These visits provide beautiful opportunities for children to develop empathy, kindness, confidence and a sense of community, while building meaningful relationships across generations. πŸ‘§πŸ‘¦πŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄

We love seeing the smiles these visits bring to both our children and the residents. πŸ’•

πŸ§ͺ✨ SCIENCE WEEK FUN! ✨πŸ§ͺ

Our little scientists have been busy experimenting, investigating and problem-solving for Science Week! πŸ”¬πŸ’¦πŸŠ

Today’s challenge was:

Can you take the orange out of the water WITHOUT spilling the water? πŸ€”

The children worked together, shared their predictions and tested different ideas to see what would happen. There were lots of curious minds, excited conversations and plenty of trial and error!

Experiments like this are a fantastic way for children to explore cause and effect, problem-solving, teamwork and scientific thinking through hands-on play.

πŸŠπŸ’¦ Do you know the trick?
Tell us how you would get the orange out without spilling the water! πŸ‘‡πŸ§ͺ

πŸͺ©πŸŽ§ DISCO FEVER! 🎧πŸͺ©

Last week, following a special request from our children, we turned up the music and held our very own DISCO PARTY! πŸŒˆπŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

Our superstar DJ Sheree & DJ Jess took over the decks and had everyone dancing, moving and showing off their best disco moves! 🎢✨

We love listening to our children’s ideas and incorporating their voices into our program. When children have opportunities to influence what happens in their learning environment, it builds their confidence, sense of belonging and shows them that their ideas and voices matter. πŸ’™

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and some very impressive dance moves! πŸͺ©πŸŒˆ

πŸ‘–πŸ’™ JEANS FOR GENES DAY πŸ’™πŸ‘–

Our Kinder children had a very special project for Jeans for Genes Day β€” decorating their Kinder teacher Nayani’s jeans for her to wear! 🎨✨

The children worked together to add their own colourful drawings, designs and creative touches, turning a simple pair of jeans into something truly unique. What better way to celebrate than wearing a piece of artwork created by our little artists! πŸ₯°

Jeans for Genes Day raises awareness and funds for Children’s Medical Research Institute, supporting research into genetic diseases and helping create brighter futures for children and families. πŸ§¬πŸ’™

We can’t wait to see Nayani proudly rocking her one-of-a-kind jeans! πŸ‘–πŸŽ¨

πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

What a beautiful and meaningful day celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day at the Aboriginal Gathering Place, hosted by Whittlesea Council.

This year’s theme, β€œLiving Our Truth,” honours the power of truth-telling, sharing knowledge across generations and the importance of telling our stories.

Our children spent the day connecting with Country, culture and community through so many wonderful hands-on experiences. 🌿 They explored the beautiful grounds on a native plant and animal scavenger hunt, created woven bracelets, experimented with natural clay face painting, made crowns and flags using eucalyptus leaves and paperbark, explored possum skins, playdough and puzzles, and created beautiful scratch artworks using natural tools.

A special part of our day was enjoying a picnic together around the Bunjil plaque, where the children learnt the story of Bunjil, the Creator, and his connection to the land, people and animals. ✨

We were also privileged to listen to Aunty Sharon, who shared stories about the importance of sharing, respect, listening and learning from one another. Her words reminded us that these values are an important part of building genuine relationships and continuing our journey towards reconciliation.

Our children came away with much more than memories of a fun day. Through storytelling, culture, connection and hands-on learning, they strengthened their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.

These experiences help our children develop respect, empathy, inclusion and cultural awareness from an early age, while recognising and celebrating the world’s oldest continuing living cultures. πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, connect and walk together towards a shared future. 🌿✨

πŸšŒβ˜•πŸ“š Our First Public Transport Adventure!

What an exciting day for our Timbertop 3-year-old children! πŸ’š

Our little adventurers experienced catching public transport for the very first time! 🚌 The children travelled to our local shops, where they enjoyed a special babyccino together β˜• before making their way to the local library to explore books, stories and their community. πŸ“šβœ¨

After our library visit, it was time to hop back on public transport and make our way safely back to the centre.

Experiences like this are about so much more than an excursion. They help children build confidence, independence, road and community safety awareness, social skills and an understanding of how public transport works β€” all while connecting with the wonderful community around them. 🌿

We are so proud of how confidently our Timbertop children embraced this new adventure! πŸ’šπŸšŒ

β€οΈπŸ”΄ RED NOSE DAY 2026 πŸ”΄β€οΈ

Today at Story House Doreen, we’re wearing RED, having some fun and raising funds for Red Nose Day! ❀️

Red Nose Day is an annual fundraiser for Red Nose Australia, an organisation dedicated to saving little lives through safe sleep education, research and support for families who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby or child.

Our educators and children are getting involved by dressing in red, wearing their red noses and helping raise awareness for this very important cause. πŸ”΄

A huge thank you to our wonderful families, children and educators for getting behind us and helping make a difference! ❀️
