🎉 A Dream Comes True: A Historic Milestone for Punjabi at DTHS from 2027! 🎉
I am thrilled to share some wonderful news with our community!
Starting in 2027, Doonside Technology High School (DTHS) will offer Punjabi as a Stage 6 subject for Year 11 students, providing a pathway for students to continue their Punjabi language continuer course through to the HSC.
This milestone is very close to my heart. When I started teaching Punjabi as a volunteer community language class in 2024, I dreamed that one day Punjabi would become part of the school curriculum. When I later shared this vision with our Principal, Colin Campbell, I spoke about my dream of seeing Punjabi on the students' timetable and hearing the school bell ring for a Punjabi class. Today, that dream is becoming a reality, and I am incredibly excited and grateful.
In many ways, I feel that I started hearing that bell long before the official announcement was made. What began as a volunteer class has now grown into an opportunity for students to study Punjabi as a Stage 6 subject and continue their language journey through to the HSC.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Principal, Colin Campbell, for his support, leadership and belief in this initiative. Without his encouragement and commitment to providing opportunities for our students, this achievement would not have been possible.
I would also like to thank Ms Shweta, VET Coordinator & Careers Adviser, for her guidance and support throughout this process. Your assistance in helping make Punjabi available as a Year 11 subject at DTHS has been greatly appreciated.
A special thank you goes to my Head Teacher, Mr Marques, whose unwavering support and encouragement have always inspired me to pursue opportunities that benefit our students and our school community.
To our current Year 10 students and their families: this is an exciting opportunity to continue learning Punjabi and to study it through to the HSC. I encourage you to consider Punjabi as part of your Stage 6 studies and take advantage of this wonderful pathway.
It is truly a privilege and an honour to be part of the DTHS family and to contribute to this important achievement for our students and community.
I look forward to welcoming our first Stage 6 Punjabi students in 2027 and seeing Punjabi proudly represented on the timetable for years to come.

*** A message from Transport NSW ***
Please be advised that a significant network disruption is affecting travel for students and staff arriving at school this morning.
An incident requiring emergency services at Panania has caused the following impacts:
Trains on the T8 Macarthur Line are not running between Glenfield and Revesby.
T8 Macarthur services to the city are diverting via the T2 Leppington and Inner West Line.
T8 Revesby services will continue to operate via the Airport Line, though some stopping patterns may have changed.
Trains have been authorised to operate from Revesby to Glenfield only in that direction.
Replacement buses are operating between Glenfield and Revesby, including dedicated services for Panania.
Delays and service gaps are expected throughout the morning. Please allow extra travel time or consider alternative transport options.
We encourage everyone to:
Allow extra travel time across all lines
Listen for station announcements
Check platform information screens
Use transport apps to plan your journey
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

NSW PUBLIC SCHOOLS - PARENTS SURVEY
In Term 2, we are inviting parents and carers to participate in the NSW Public Schools Parent Survey. The survey allows you to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child’s learning is supported.
Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what’s working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
Our school's unique survey link has been emailed to parents and carers
Thank you for your time and assistance with this.
