St Mary's Catholic Primary School Donnybrook

St Mary's Catholic Primary School Donnybrook St Mary's, Donnybrook is a small Catholic primary school catering for Years K-6 In 1958 it moved to its present site and was named St Mary’s.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School provides a Catholic education that focuses on the development of the total person in an environment where Christian ideals are witnessed, lived and valued. Established in 1916 by the Sisters of Mercy, St Mary’s was originally called St Philomena’s Convent. Since this time, a comprehensive building program has ensured the facilities are of the highest standard. Our

school is a family focused community where each person is valued and respected in a safe and caring environment. Our philosophy is based on the premise that children, from Kindergarten to Year 6, learn in different ways and at different rates. Our programmes reflect this philosophy in strategies and assessment procedures. The staff is highly qualified, motivated and dedicated. They are committed to the pursuit of knowledge for themselves and for their students and respond to their responsibilities in a very professional manner.

💐Mother’s Day at St Mary’s💐

Our Mother’s Day celebrations began beautifully with Mass celebrated by Father Wayne, lovingly prepared and led by our Year 2 students. The children read so confidently and reverently, and their joyful singing of Frank Sinatra’s “L‑O‑V‑E' truly filled the church with warmth and smiles. Thanks to Mrs Grafton and Mrs Long for all the work that was put in to prepare the students and to Mr Skehan for the lovely slideshow 💖

Following Mass, it was lovely to welcome our mums, caregivers and special mother figures for Mother’s Day morning tea, sharing conversation, laughter and connection. Meanwhile, our Kindy mums enjoyed a well‑deserved pamper session a small thank you for the big love they give every day. 🌸

Thank you to all the wonderful mums and caregivers in our community. You are cherished, appreciated and loved. Happy Mother’s Day to you all! 💕

Today, Mrs Grafton turned into an alien for the Year 2 Talk for Writing hook. The alien had never made a jam sandwich before and followed the students’ instructions they wrote yesterday, step by step. It was a fun way to show just how important clear and detailed instructions are. Over the next two weeks, students will be learning how to write effective procedures.

🎉 World Principals’ Day – 1 May 2026 🎉

Today we celebrate our incredible principal, Andrew Gammon, also known as DJ Jammin’ Gammo, Basketballer Slammin’ Gammon, and yes… even the Easter Bunny! 🐰🏀🎧

Staff marked the occasion with coffees and morning tea and by rocking their wacky socks, in honour of Andrew’s well‑known love for them and to wish him well on his upcoming Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, where he will walk together with his wife Christina. 👣🧦.

We are so grateful for a principal who leads our little school with fun, faith and heart, guiding us every day and teaching us all to lead with our heads, hearts and hands. We’re blessed to have you, Andrew. Happy World Principals’ Day! 💙👏

A heartfelt thank you to Donnybrook RSL for your support and presence, and to our wonderful Year 3 students for the respect and sincerity you showed throughout.

A special acknowledgment to Miss Jendrzejak for guiding the students in creating such a meaningful and reflective tribute. Your efforts made the afternoon incredibly touching for all who attended.
