🎉🤭Welcoming our little baby no.2 to this world and to our VIVO community, this is little Jubilee “celebration of joy”!

Thank you for all your well wishes and beautiful gifts.

Jubilee was born just a few weeks ago, and mama will soon return more steadily back in Admin action alongside our incredible School Admin Kay Wen! We thank God for carrying our family through the toughest two years welcoming both baby Arielle and Jubilee. Despite all our various medical challenges we faced; in such trials, our family witnessed so much of Jesus’ realness, love, miraculous healing and saving Grace.

🥇🎉 As we begin this 2026’s early season of upcoming AMEB EXAMS, I’d love to send a long-due special shout out to CONGRATULATE all the VIVO students who completed their AMEB Piano or Violin Exams with exceptional A+ (High Distinction), A (Honours), B+ (High Credit) results last 2025 and this early 2026 Metro Exams.

Pursuing and preparing for an AMEB exam is not easy, and requires intensive daily practice, correct practice methods and playing technique, detailed attention and accomplishment of finer musical details, and great enthusiasm for finer musical expression.

AMEB (Australian Music Exam Board) is a nationally recognised exam board, with graded assessment in both Instrumental (Practical) and Music Theory (Theoretical) learning. This prestigious system provides structured learning from beginner to diploma levels (I.e. Grades Preliminary, 1-8, Associate and Licentiate Diplomas), assessing practical skills, theory, and musicianship in a nationally recognized framework that can lead to university entry or professional careers.

Each year, AMEB offers examination options in:
“Pre-recorded Video Repertoire Exams” OR“
In-Person Exams AMEB Centre”

A large majority of students here at VIVO pursue AMEB exams as a way to set self learning goals; and achieve recognizable musicianship standards on a national scale.

Teacher Cheryl Cheung will once again be leading this year’s 2026 Group and Individual Theory classes. Over the years, Cheryl has helped dozens of students at the School achieve excellent instrumental and theoretical exam results. We are incredibly grateful for her continual teaching passion.

✅ BASIC THEORY FOUNDATIONS [GROUP CLASSES]

BTF teaches the fundamentals of music theory in a fun and engaging way. Is your child struggling with treble or bass clef notation, rhythmic patterns, time values, or basic musical terminology? This 13-week course utilizes interactive, child-centered teaching approaches tailored for young beginners (ages
5 to 7.5~).

Students who have just begun their music journey, or who have completed at least one term of instrumental lessons, are encouraged to join! The curriculum includes class homework, group discussions, progress tests, and engaging activities.

✅ AMEB THEORY GRADE 1,2,3,4 [GROUP OR INDIVIDUAL CLASSES]

Students currently in AMEB Instrumental Grade 2 or above (ages 7+) are highly recommended to start early and participate.

‼️Additional AMEB Theory exams/lessons is a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT for all students doing the below exam pathways:

▪️Piano Series Exams (Comprehensive Pathway)
▪️Piano Series Exams (Repertoire Pathway)
▪️Violin Series Exams (Comprehensive Pathway)
▪️Violin Series Exams (Repertoire Pathway)

Students learning for non-exam purposes or pursing the “Piano For Leisure Exams” are also welcome to join to enrich their theoretical knowledge (not mandatory).

When students reach AMEB Grade 5 Instrumental Exams, they are required to complete the Grade 1 Theory Exam, in order to obtain the Piano/Violin Practical exam certificate:

- Instrumental Grade 5 = Theory Grade 1
- Instrumental Grade 6 = Theory Grade 2
- Instrumental Grade 7 = Theory Grade 3
- Instrumental Grade 8 = Theory Grade 4

VIVO has curated this Intensive Theory Course to cover all the required topics to prepare students for their “AMEB Online Theory Exam”. Due to a significant amount of theory to go through, the Piano/Violin lesson time alone is insufficient to cover all theoretical and instrumental exam material for students.
