Important reminder about our variation to routine tomorrow morning. We encourage students to arrive for regular classes at 11am. If they require minimal supervision on site at school they should report to the library at 9am. Other classrooms will not be open.

SCHOOLS UPDATE: Minimal supervision arrangements for ACT public schools and preschools, 9am-11am, Thursday 17 September

ACT public schools will be operating under minimal supervision from 9am to 11am on Thursday 17 September 2026.

Families may wish to keep their children at home during that time, but minimal supervision will be available for those who need to attend.

Regular teaching and learning will begin at 11am.

The arrangement is to support Australian Education Union members to attend a paid time meeting to consider the ACT Government’s September 10 pay and conditions offer for teachers, school leaders and school psychologists.

The ACT Government appreciates your understanding and support. We remain committed to working collaboratively with staff and unions to reach an outcome that supports our workforce and continues to deliver high-quality public education for ACT students.

All ACT public schools CLOSED (full day) on Thursday 11 June 2026

In order to enable industrial action and keep students safe, all ACT public schools, including specialist schools and preschools, will be CLOSED on Thursday 11 June 2026 (full day).

There will be no onsite supervision on the day.

The Education Directorate has decided to close schools to students during this time, in the interest of student and staff safety.

The Australian Education Union has notified the Education Directorate that its members will take part in protected industrial action for a full day on that day.

We are again expecting a large proportion of ACT public school staff will participate in the work stoppage, meaning we are unable to confidently plan for safe and appropriate supervision for all students.

If you have any questions or concerns about how this closure will impact your school, please contact your school directly.

We acknowledge that school closures have significant impacts on families and these decisions are not taken lightly. We are letting families know about this change as early as possible to help with forward planning. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

We invite prospective students and families to come along, meet staff and students, and learn more about life at Dickson College.

On Thursday 23rd April we took four Oztag teams out to compete at the Intercollege Oztag Gala Day. Everyone played well, and our Dickson College Boys White team progressed to the quarter finals. It was a great day for everyone involved.
