💙 A Special Morning with Our St. Andrew's Grammar Dads
Thank you to all the dads who joined us and shared the morning with us. It was so lovely to see our school community coming together for a very special breakfast BBQ!
A big thank you to our teachers and staff who worked together to make the morning possible and to celebrate the amazing fathers in our St. Andrew's Grammar community.
As an American author Clarence Kelland once said, "My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it."
Thank you to all the fathers and father figures who lead by example, support, encourage and inspire our young people every day. We are grateful to have you as part of the St. Andrew's Grammar family.

On Friday 28 August, our ATAR Biology and ATAR Psychology students enjoyed an engaging excursion to Perth Zoo, where classroom learning was brought to life through two specialised education programs. 🎓

Students participated in both Hisss-teria: Psychology in Action and Keeping up with the Neanderthals, allowing them to explore key concepts from both Psychology and Biology.

During Hisss-teria: Psychology in Action, students explored how principles of learning are applied to the care, training and management of animals at Perth Zoo. Through real-world case studies presented by a Zoo educator, students were able to see psychological theories they have studied in class applied in practical settings.

In Keeping up with the Neanderthals, students investigated why humans are classified as primates and explored evolutionary trends within this group. Through comparative anatomy, physiology and behaviour, students examined the similarities and differences within the Hominidae (Great Ape) family and explored characteristics of early hominins through hands-on activities.

The excursion provided an enjoyable and valuable opportunity to consolidate content from the ATAR Biology and Psychology courses while experiencing how these concepts can be applied in the real world.

Last Thursday, our students in Years 1–6 enjoyed a wonderful Demeter House Lunch, coming together to celebrate House spirit and building connections.

A special thank you to our Year 6 Demeter students for their planning and organisation. We would also like to thank Mrs Attard for her support and assistance in coordinating the lunch.

A big thank you also to our Canteen team for preparing the special Demeter House Lunch Meal Deal and helping make the event extra special for our students.

Well done to everyone involved in creating such a positive and enjoyable experience for our Demeter students!

Yesterday, our troupe of performers spent the day at the Subiaco Arts Centre rehearsing, socialising and then performing for Healthway YOHFest.

YOHFest stands for Youth on Health Festival, and is a competition where schools from all across WA come together to create performances around a theme. This year's theme was 'Health on Wealth', and our lively group of 17 students created the performance titled 'Therapy'. Our introduction to the performance puts it best:

Our Act Belong Commit performance, ‘Therapy’, follows Alex, a therapist who meets four clients from very different backgrounds. As he helps them navigate their challenges, he also discovers some things about himself. Our performance explores this year’s theme, ‘Health is Wealth’, and the importance of making choices that enrich our health and wellbeing.

The day was full of rehearsing, games and talent shows before we took to the stage. Our performance managed to land us not only a certificate of merit, but the main award given by the sponsor Healthway; 'Effective Exploration of the Theme'.

Congratulations to our amazing team, we are so proud of the effort you all put into the performance, and we will wait with bated breath for the finalist announcement on the 11th of September!

What a wonderful Book Week we had last week as we celebrated our love of stories, books and reading!

Our students enjoyed a range of special activities throughout the week, including welcoming guest readers into the Library who shared some of their favourite stories with our students.

Our Buddy Classes also joined in the fun with a variety of book-themed activities, including the exciting challenge of finding ‘Where’s Ollie?’ around the school!

On Friday, our youngest students also had the opportunity to get involved in the Book Week celebrations by dressing up as their favourite book characters. Their creativity and excitement made for a wonderful way to finish the week!

A huge thank you to our staff, guest readers and students for making Book Week such a memorable celebration of books, stories and reading.

Over the weekend of August 22/23, nine Year 4 and Year 5 students represented St. Andrew's Grammar in the Novice On-Stage Performance division at the RoboCup Junior WA State competition. RCJ On-Stage is part of an international program designed to promote students' STEM engagement and development of 21st Century collaboration, problem solving, and creativity skills through educational robotics competitions.

Over the past six months, our students have worked in small teams in our RoboCup CCA program to design, build, program, and (eventually) test robots which performed a dance routine to music. The program was coached by Dr Michael Graffin with the assistance of Mr Tom Fortune and the amazing support of our teams' parents and families who helped supervise our weekend events.

This year, we were incredibly proud to share that all three of our teams successfully qualified for the RoboCup Junior WA State Finals, ranking in the top 9 of 21 teams from around Western Australia. This was a remarkable achievement in just our second year of competition, reflecting many hours of work that went in behind the scenes.

We are especially delighted to announce that one of our teams won 3rd place overall, which is a rare achievement in such a highly competitive event.

Congratulations to all of the students involved. We are now looking forward to planning our 2027 season!

Our primary students had the absolute best time last Friday celebrating Book Week with the incredible Cristy Burne - Author, Storyteller and Scientist!

From Kindergarten to Year 6, Cristy completely enthralled and entertained us all with her wild energy and passion. We were treated to an unforgettable performance packed with hilarious jokes, tall tales, dancing and inspiring story readings from her books! The absolute highlights? Mixing storytelling and Science and launching exploding rockets into the air and shooting marshmallows from a vacuum cleaner!

Cristy showed our junior scientists and writers how to mix creativity with curiosity to dream up their own big story ideas.

Thank you, Cristy, for inspiring our students to live courageously and think big! ❤️

SCIENCE WEEK 2026!

Science Week came alive across our school this year, with our students leading the charge!

Our fantastic Science Club planned and ran a range of hands-on activities for both Primary and Secondary students. From creating non-Newtonian fluids to experimenting with immiscible liquids, students had the chance to get messy, curious and experience science in action!

The excitement continued during Mentor with a competitive Science Trivia Challenge, while our spectacular Supersonic Science incursion last week provided the perfect build-up, filling the room with incredible experiments, reactions, bangs and plenty of surprises!

A huge congratulations to our Science Club for helping make Science Week 2026 such an exciting celebration of curiosity, discovery and, most importantly, the FUN of science!

What a wonderful Book Week Parade we had on Tuesday! Celebrating this year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” our students and staff brought their favourite stories to life with an amazing array of creative and colourful book character costumes.

It was fantastic to see our school community come together to celebrate our love of reading, imagination and the joy of getting lost in a great book! 📚
