A little language boost to get you through the week! 🇬🇷

Each week, we share a Greek word to help keep the language alive and growing across our community.

This week’s Greek word is: Παρακαλώ
Phonetic pronunciation: pa-ra-ka-LOH
Meaning: Please or You're Welcome! (Depending on the context)

The word παρακαλώ is used to politely ask for something, but also as a warm response after being thanked. It reflects courtesy and mutual respect in conversation.

It reflects appreciation and good manners, and is almost always delivered with a smile or warm eye contact.

Mid-week challenge: say it out loud today and use it at least once this week.
Learn Greek with us, one word at a time.

👉 Stay tuned for next week’s word!

We're starting off easy, with this week’s Greek word is: Καλημέρα!
Phonetic Pronunciation: kah-lee-MEH-rah
Meaning: Good morning!
Explanation: Used from dawn until around noon. "Kalimera" is more than just a greeting; it’s a wish for a good day, reflecting appreciation for the start of a new day.

Give it a go, say it out loud and learn Greek with us, one word at a time.

👉 Stay tuned for next week’s word!

Day 2.5 St. Andrew's Grammar, WA Hard to see in this photo but there are a million little stars in the sky now.

Today, 11 November, is Remembrance Day. On this day we honour all who have served and sacrificed for our freedom in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. We remember those who gave their lives in service to enable us to enjoy life today.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Lest we forget. ❤️
