What a Vacation Care It's Been So Far! 🌟

✨ Our OOSHies have packed the holidays with action, flipping through FSA Gymnastics 🤸‍♀️, charging through Footy Finals 🏉, grappling at Jiu Jitsu 🥋 & juggling their way through a Taste of Circus 🎪! They've challenged themselves, tried brand new things & formed wonderful friendships along the way. A huge thank you to our amazing educators for creating such a fun, welcoming experience for everyone. 💙 🎉

Mystery Box Bingo Day at Active OOSH! 🎉

✨ Our day kicked off with a relaxed breakfast & some creative stencil colouring before the main event. OOSHies marked off their numbers & chased special prizes as the rules switched from one line to two lines & then a full house! Big congrats to our winners so far: James, Grace, Alec, Jasmine & Maddison. OOSHies who skipped bingo swung into totem tennis, kicked the footy around & jumped into interactive games. Our feathered friends dropped by again too, bringing along a new visitor we're still working out!

💙 When kids steer their own play, they grow curiosity, communication skills & the confidence to chase what excites them.

🦋 We tuned in to what the children wanted & shifted activities to match, so everyone felt safe, supported & valued while choosing how to spend their day. This builds a strong sense of identity, a key outcome of My Time, Our Place. We'll keep taking cues from the kids & bring in fresh ideas as the day rolls on.

Kites Take Flight on Day One! 🪁

✨ Our OOSHies kicked off the holidays with a trip to the movies to see Forgotten Island 🎬, then came back to a surprise: a bag of kites that had been gifted to us a few months ago! The OOSHies swarmed to them & spent hours sending them soaring across the COLA, beaming with pride each time one took flight. Between games, colouring in & spontaneous play, the OOSHies also clicked together shapes with the round star connectors, always a favourite 🫶

💙 Getting a kite off the ground takes patience & persistence, so children feel the thrill of achieving something through their own effort.

🧩 Working out how to catch the wind & building shapes with the star connectors gave the children plenty of chances to experiment & test their ideas. This supports the My Time, Our Place outcome: children are confident & involved learners.

💡 Did you know? Having the right resources on hand, like kites & construction sets, helps us meet the National Quality Standard, Element 3.2.2, which makes sure every child can dive into play-based learning.

School Holidays are here! ☀️

What to pack each day for OOSH:
🧢 Hat: sun safety first!
🍎 A full lunch box: please pack enough for a full day, as we are very active!
💧 A full drink bottle: staying hydrated is important!
👕 A spare change of clothes: just in case we get stuck into some extra messy, creative or adventurous fun! 🎨💦
👟 Closed-in shoes: essential for all activities & for everyone’s safety. Crocs, slides & thongs are a no-go! 🚫
💊 Medication: If your child requires medication, please make sure it is in date, clearly labelled (tablets in a webster pack) & accompanied by the appropriate documentation/authorisation. Please be aware that without the required medication & documentation, your child will not be able to attend OOSH.
😁 A happy smile: the most important item of all!

Chilly Day, Big Choices at Active OOSH! ⚽

✨ Yesterday some of our OOSHies braved the cold for a game of soccer & kicks outside, while others cosied up with Lego, the reading hut & some car crash action indoors. Later on, OOSHies helped cut up fruit for afternoon tea, then tucked into yummy fried rice & a fresh fruit platter. There was even a crystal gem hunt thrown into the mix for extra adventure!

ℹ️ Fruit cutting is always educator guided, with children using safe, age appropriate tools while building real kitchen skills.

💙 Chances to choose their own play & help out in the kitchen build your kids' confidence, independence & decision making skills.

🧩 From choosing between soccer & inside play to helping prepare afternoon tea, children built new skills & a strong sense of capability, supporting My Time, Our Place: confident & involved learners.

National Child Protection Week at Active OOSH Halliday's Point ⭐️

✨ This week for National Child Protection Week, OOSHies at Active OOSH Halliday's Point engaged in a range of creative, quiet & active activities all about trust, personal space & consent. Alongside our regular roll call chats, OOSHies took part in trust hands, made child protection lanterns, traced their own personal bubbles, contributed to a collaborative consent artwork & played an emotions memory game, learning big ideas in a fun & engaging way.

💙 Understanding personal space, trust & consent helps children build the confidence to set boundaries & speak up, keeping them safer now & into the future.

🦋 These activities helped children build a strong sense of identity, learning to understand their own body, boundaries & feelings, aligning with My Time, Our Place: a strong sense of identity.
