🌞🧢 SUN SMART REMINDER – TERMS 4 & 1 🧢🌞

As we head into the warmer months, a friendly reminder to all our families that DPS Sun Smart hats are required to be worn during Terms 4 and 1.

🌳 No Hat, No Play! 🌳

In line with the Sun and UV Protection Policy, students are required to wear a school-approved SunSmart hat when playing or participating in outdoor activities during these terms.

Please make sure your child:
🧢 Brings their DPS SunSmart hat to school every day
☀️ Wears their hat whenever they are outside
🏷️ Has their hat clearly labelled with their name

Students who do not have a hat will be required to play in designated shaded areas and will not be able to participate in activities in direct sunlight.

Let's work together to keep our students sun safe, healthy and protected while they enjoy the warmer weather! 💛🌞

📚✨ Book Week Fun at DPS! ✨📚

What an amazing Book Week we had last week! 🎉📖 Our celebrations continued with a fantastic Literacy & Numeracy Night, and it was wonderful to see so many families come along, get involved and enjoy a fun-filled evening together! 🥰👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

There was something for everyone, including:
🎭 Puppet making
🔤 Word games
💬 Comic creators
🎨 Colour by numbers
🔢 Fun numeracy games
🪨 Story stones
🧘‍♀️ A relaxing Chillout Zone
📚 And so much more!

Of course, no school event is complete without a sausage sizzle 🌭, drinks 🥤 and Zooper Doopers 🍧!

Our Book Week dress-up day was also a huge success, with students and staff bringing their favourite characters to life through some fantastic costumes! 📚🦸‍♀️🧙‍♂️🧚‍♀️

A huge thank you to all our wonderful families for joining us and making the night so special. ❤️ It was truly wonderful seeing our school community together—laughing, creating, playing, learning and enjoying quality time as a family. 🌟

For the month of September the students and staff will be working on the value and expectation, "We show Respect in the learning space when we allow others to teach and learn."
Our whole school minor behaviour data showed this as a need across our school.
When your children come home, ask them if they have received a point from our PBIS point system for showing Respect. Remember that our whole school shop opens every Monday and Wednesday from 3.15 - 3.30pm. Items regularly change where we receive new things all the time. Remember to stop by together after school 🙂

🎨 Our Year 5 artists have been busy bringing Cubism to life through wire sculpture! 🧑‍🎨✨

Students began by planning their sculptures using labelled diagrams, identifying the shapes, features and materials they would need. 📝🔷

They then transformed their 2D plans into 3D artworks using wire, learning how to bend, twist, join and shape it to create their designs. 🌀🔗

🔧 An exciting part of the process was learning to use pliers safely for the first time! 👏😊

We are so proud of their creativity, problem-solving and persistence! 🌟🎨🙌

Campers are settling in with a movie tonight after a long day of fun activities. We have learnt so much and showed so much resilience. Excited to come home and tell our families all about it tomorrow!

🐾💙 Big congratulations to Winston! 💙🐾

We’re thrilled to celebrate Winston, on his recent accreditation as a Therapy Dog! 🎉

Winston has already brought so much joy, comfort and calm to our DPS community, and we’re incredibly proud to see his special role officially recognised by Therapy Animals Australia . 🐶✨

Here’s to many more wagging tails, warm welcomes and wellbeing moments with Winston! 💙
