https://www.derbydhs.wa.edu.au/ Derby District High School is located in attractive and well maintained grounds and surroundings. With an enrolment of just over 500 students it provides an education program for students from K- 12. Students attend the school from the town of Derby and outlying areas including the Aboriginal Communities of M

owanjum and Pandanus. Students in Years 11 and 12 have access to a range of programs leading to secondary graduation. VET programs are offered in the school and in partnership with the local TAFE campus. Subjects leading to university entrance are either delivered by school staff or through the School of Isolated and Distance Education. Both the P&C and the School Council play an important and active role in the school.

Think you’ve got what it takes to outsmart our Year 6s? Bring the family along for a fun night of trivia while supporting our Year 6 Camp Fundraising!

📅 Wednesday 2nd of September - next week (Week 7)
📍 DDHS PAC
🚪 Doors open: 5:00pm
🧠 Quiz starts: 5:30pm
🎟️ $5 per person - cash & EFTPOS available

Tables and seating will be first in, best dressed, so get there early and grab your spot!

🌭 Sausage sizzles and juice will be available to purchase on the night.

Science Week – Seeds of Science

Last week, we celebrated Science Week with the theme Seeds of Science.

Students explored seeds through a range of activities, including:

• Learning about the Boab tree life cycle and decorating Boab nuts while learning the language name Larrarkadi.
• Growing chia seed “hairy potatoes” and observing how seeds germinate and grow.
• Cooking with different seeds and learning how seeds can be an important food source.
- Using Lirringkin (Soap Wattle) seed pods to create soap

It was an enjoyable, hands-on week of learning

Teddy Bears, Picnics & Fun! 🧸🧺

What a wonderful morning at our Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Monday! Our Kindy and KindiLink families came together to enjoy a morning of fun, connection and play.

The picnic was followed by a short scavenger hunt, adding an extra element of adventure for our little explorers!

A big thank you to all our families for joining us and helping make the morning such a success. We loved seeing our youngest DDHS learners and their families enjoying time together!

Our students gave it their all across the track and team events, showing determination, resilience and plenty of faction pride.

A huge THANK YOU to our dedicated staff, enthusiastic students and supportive families who helped create such a positive and encouraging atmosphere from start to finish.
