What an incredible show!!!

Our Year 5/6 students, together with the Year 4 Band, brought our school community an absolutely outstanding musical, and performed to a SOLD OUT audience!

This production was the culmination of a wonderfully rich inquiry. The children collaborated to develop scripts, choreograph dances, and create props, costumes and programs, drawing together their learning about poetry and expression, texts from different times, and the many perspectives through which stories can be told.

The result was a joyful, creative and remarkably high quality production that showcased not only the children’s individual talents, but also what can be achieved through courage, collaboration and a shared creative vision.

Our enormous gratitude goes to our amazing Year 5/6 teaching team, Rosie Lane and Jess Dyer, and our wonderfully talented Music Teacher, Lou McKenna, for the extraordinary care, time and energy they invested in bringing this production to life. Thank you also to the parents who generously supported the show, particularly Mandy Porter and Marie Kerr.

The greatest review of all may have come from our Kindy children, who immediately wanted to watch the whole show again!

A sold out performance, an incredibly proud school community, and celebrations all round. Congratulations to everyone involved! 👏✨

What does a maths lesson look like at Kwoorabup Nature School?

It might begin outdoors, with sticks in children’s hands as they explore patterns and build their understanding in a concrete, visible way. Back in the classroom, they apply the same thinking using MAB blocks, before extending their learning through a roll-the-dice game with increasingly larger numbers.

Learning the 10 times table is valuable, but the deeper learning lies in recognising patterns in place value. When children understand how numbers change when multiplied by 10, they can confidently extend this thinking to multiplying by 100, 1,000 and beyond.

A beautiful example from our Learning Coordinator, Sib, of hands-on learning developing deep mathematical understanding. So grateful to your warm, thoughtful leadership Sib!

Yesterday, our Year 3–6 students were lucky enough to witness the opening of Marjit (Wilson Inlet). What an exciting event for our whole community!

Experiences like this bring learning to life. Students explored how the inlet, sandbar and ocean interact, and how the opening affects water levels, salinity, erosion and the movement of fish and other aquatic life.

It also provided rich HASS learning about the connections between people, place and environment, and how communities work together to care for and manage important waterways.

What a privilege to witness this significant event firsthand, right here on Country. We love that our learning program can be flexible and adapt to what is happening in the world around us!

🌿 Woonya Boorn – We Love Trees 🌿

What a joyful day of caring for Country and celebrating community for National Tree Day!

Together with the support of Anais and Xavier from the Shire of Denmark, Kwoorabup Nature School students planted 400 native trees... yes... 400!!!!!

In the weeks leading up, they worked hard preparing the boodja (land) by clearing lots of weeds especially watsonia and kikuyu making Friday's planting even more meaningful.

A special thank you to the incredible artist Tess Of-the Dandelions for supporting the children to create another mural for our school, and to Jazz, our wonderful Garden Fairy, who lovingly cares for our trees and gardens all year round.

From dancing and laughter, to children of all ages working side by side, today was a beautiful reminder that when a community comes together, wonderful things grow. 🌱💚

Thank you Abbie for taking the time to share your family's experience at our school.

Hearing how much she values our nature-based approach, our partnership with Noongar culture, and the opportunity for families to learn alongside their children through Boodja Koorliny means more than we can say.

When families tell us they feel they've found a place where they feel they belong, it reminds us why this work matters.

To our entire school community... thank you. Thank you for your trust, your support, and for helping create the warm, connected community that makes Kwoorabup Nature School so special. 💚

Some lessons are best shared with a friend... 🐑💚

Lucky Gerald, our rescue lamb, has officially become part of the Year 5/6 class. Between spelling words, stories and snuggles, he's quietly settled into the rhythm of school life as though he's always belonged.

We love watching the gentle connections that grow when children care for animals. They remind us that learning isn't just about the words on the page – it's also about kindness, responsibility, patience and belonging.

We think we've found ourselves a very happy literacy lamb. 📚🐑

(We're just hoping he doesn't grow up too quickly! ❤️)
