🦷 IMPORTANT DENTAL SUPPORT FOR LOCAL FAMILIES — NSW AND VICTORIA 🦷

Living in a rural and remote community can make accessing essential health services, including dental care, difficult and expensive. I recently received this information and thought it was important to share with families across our entire community.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is an Australian Government program, which means eligible children living on either side of the NSW–Victorian border may be able to access up to $1,158 in dental benefits over two calendar years.

The program is available to eligible children aged 0 - 17 years and covers many common dental services, including check-ups, X-rays, cleaning, fillings, fissure sealing and extractions.

Before booking with a private dentist, families should ask whether the practice accepts the Child Dental Benefits Schedule and whether there will be any out-of-pocket costs.

🔵 NSW families

All children aged 0 - 17 who live in NSW and are eligible for Medicare can access dental care at no cost through NSW public dental clinics - even if they are not eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule or have already used their full benefit.

To discuss your child’s care or make an appointment, call NSW Public Dental Services on 1800 679 336.

More information:

🟣 Victorian families

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is also available to eligible Victorian children. Victorian families may also be eligible for free or low-cost care through Victoria’s public dental system, although eligibility and fees differ from the NSW arrangements.

Check Victorian eligibility:
https://www.ohv.org.au/our-services/are-you-eligible

Find a Victorian public dental clinic:

I know how challenging accessing healthcare can be for families in our remote, cross-border community. Hopefully this information helps a local child receive dental care that may otherwise have been delayed or considered out of reach.

Please feel welcome to share this information with other families who may benefit. 🦷

Happy Principal’s Day, Mr Bannister! 🌟

Today we celebrate a Principal who truly believes in the power and importance of public education and, most importantly, in giving every student the opportunity to shine.

Mr Bannister is a strong advocate for making sure our students can participate, explore their interests and experience all that school life has to offer — whether that means supporting opportunities in the classroom, on the sporting field, at excursions, or simply being there to encourage them along the way.

And if there’s a bus to drive for an excursion, you’ll often find Mr Bannister behind the wheel! 🚌 His genuine enjoyment of spending time with our students is one of the many things that makes him such a valued part of our school community.

Mr Bannister believes that you don’t have to change the world to make a difference. Sometimes, it’s about making just a small difference in one student’s life — helping them feel seen, supported, included and capable of achieving their potential.

Thank you, Mr Bannister, for your commitment to public education, your belief in our students, and for all the little things you do each day that make a big difference.

💙 Happy Principal’s Day, Mr Bannister! We appreciate you! 💙

Well this just happened, today we headed off to the University of Canberra for our Round 3 NSW PSSA Touch Football fixture v Jugiong Public School. In a heart stopping match the scores were 6-6. At the end of overtime, there was no change to that score. It then went to the Drop Off system where each team is reduced to three players each. Next scorer wins and this segment went for a further 6 minutes or so until James dived over in the corner to take the victory for our school. Final score 7- 6 to Delegate. We are now off to NSW PSSA State Finals Day in the last week of this term. Thank you so much to University of Canberra ASPIRE Team for support with the fields and the referee. Such an exciting day. Well done to Jugiong PS for playing the game in great spirit. NSW Department of Education University of Canberra NSW Primary School Sports Association

What an incredible way to start Public NSW Department of Education Week here in the Snowy Mountains. In the mountains, the six Small Schools (schools with Teaching Principals) have formed the Snowy Mountains Small Schools Collective, and we team together for sports activities, staff professional learning opportunities and today, we came together for so much more. A Combined STEAM Day bringing together over 180 students K-6 from Adaminaby Public School Berridale Public School Bredbo Public School Nimmitabel Public School Michelago Public School. With outstanding support from the University of Canberra ASPIRE Team, Snowy Hydro, and The Australian National University, we were able to provide students with a wide range of science-based activities that sparked curiosity, challenged thinking and opened eyes to a whole new world. Thank you to Mrs. Geelan from Bredbo Public School for her incredible work in putting the day's program together and to my team at Delegate for all their hard work packing show bags, ordering and collecting food for over 240 people. What a day!!!! Thank you also to our Director Educational Leadership Bek Lindsay for attending on the day, it was wonderful having you with us.
