Our Year 5 and 6 students are making their voices heard on the issues that matter to our community.

Selected students recently had the opportunity to speak with Anne Feehan about current local issues, including migration, the cost of living and crime rates. From this discussion, one student has been selected to present their ideas and perspectives at Parliament House to Jess Wilson, Leader of the Opposition.

A wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in meaningful civic discussion, develop confidence in public speaking and have their voices heard.

Three weeks, countless memories and plenty of new learning.

Our international students have spent the past three weeks experiencing life at OLGC - from learning in the classroom and exploring Australian culture to making new friends, joining in school activities and discovering what makes our community so special.

It has been wonderful to welcome them into our OLGC community and see all that they have learned, experienced and shared with us.

Our Prep students have been busy building their literacy skills!

They’ve been learning about short vowel sounds and when to use /ck/, while also exploring non-fiction texts, gathering facts and using their new knowledge to write their own information reports.

Books, creativity and a Symphony of Stories.

Book Week 2026 is coming to OLGC, and we have a wonderful week planned around this year’s CBCA theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’.

From Masked Readers, lunchtime activities and CBCA Picture Book rotations to author visits, livestreams, trivia and challenges, there will be plenty of opportunities for our students to celebrate the joy of reading.

We will finish the week with our Book Character Parade on Friday morning, with students invited to come dressed as a favourite book character.

A week dedicated to stories, imagination and a love of reading.

Hockey Masterclasses at OLGC

Our Prep–Year 6 students have been taking their hockey skills to the next level through our Hockey Masterclass Program, delivered by Kew Box Hill Brumbies Hockey Club.

As part of our comprehensive Physical Education program, students across the whole school have the opportunity to develop their skills with experienced coaches, building technical ability, game awareness, teamwork and confidence from the earliest years through to Year 6.

For our Years 5–6 students, the program has also provided valuable preparation ahead of this Friday’s Hockey Gala Day, where they will have the opportunity to put their skills into action in a competitive setting.

At OLGC, we value opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom and provide every student with the chance to discover, develop and pursue their interests.

Over the past three weeks, our international students have embraced life at OLGC, discovering new subjects, new routines and the many differences between Australian schools and their experiences at home.

From exploring new areas of learning to working alongside their classmates, they have gained a wonderful insight into Australian primary education — while sharing their own experiences and perspectives with our community.

We have loved welcoming them into our classrooms and watching their confidence grow as they learn, connect and become part of life at OLGC.

Get ready to move, cheer and celebrate!

Our OLGC Aerobics Club Showcase Fundraiser is happening TOMORROW, and we’d love to see our community there supporting our incredible aerobics teams.

Join us from 3:30pm for market stalls, a bake sale, team photo opportunities and our lolly guessing game, before the performances kick off at 4:00pm.

Tickets available at the door:
Child $2 | Adult $5

Come along, grab a treat and enjoy an afternoon of amazing routines from our talented students. All funds raised will support our Aerobics Club at NATIONALS next month!
