Happy Holy Sunday đź’›

We are so blessed to have song in our community; it is a joy to hear the children’s voices in church. Together in faith, we are united here at St Kevin’s, and what a beautiful way to begin the day.

On Tuesday we enjoyed a winter theme at our Playgroup. The children had a fantastic time creating their own personalised snowmen, decorating snowflakes, making fluffy clouds, and exploring a range of winter themed activities.

It was our biggest playgroup yet, and it was so lovely to see the room filled with so many happy faces.

Playgroup is such a beautiful way to introduce children to school life in a fun, play based environment, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and excited about going to school.

Yesterday we celebrated our Patron Saint, St Kevin, with a beautiful school Mass followed by some fun Irish games led by our Year 6 leaders.

Students enjoyed a range of activities including Visio Divina of St Kevin (where they added facial features), ring toss, bowling, and parachute games. We were even blessed with sunshine, allowing the children to enjoy the festivities outdoors.

A wonderful day of faith and fun.

Kindy students took their maths learning outside last week and became real life data collectors!
Students were tasked to tally mark the colour of cars driving past St Kevin's and work out which car colour is the most popular on Oaks Avenue.

Drum roll...... white cars were the most popular!

Our Stage 3 students have had an amazing three days in Canberra!

They experienced Question Time in the House of Representatives and saw Parliament in full swing — a fantastic opportunity to witness democracy in action.

Students also took part in a mock parliament, where they debated and successfully passed their own law after a very lively and spirited discussion!

Throughout the trip, they visited many iconic attractions including Questacon, the Australian War Memorial, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the Royal Australian Mint.

It’s safe to say we will have some very tired but very happy students after such a memorable and enriching experience!

We were so lucky to have Rocksteady Music School visit us for a whole school performance two weeks ago! The students loved hearing so many familiar songs and even the teachers were lucky to have a few of their top hits being played.
Thanks again Rocksteady Music School!

ALL IN for Reconciliation - National Reconciliation Week 2026
27 May – 3 June

This week, we join communities across Australia in recognising National Reconciliation Week, a time to learn about our shared histories, honour the cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and reflect on how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

This year’s theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day, through listening, embracing truth telling, learning, respect and meaningful action. As we acknowledge 25 years of Reconciliation Australia, we recognise both the progress made and the important work still ahead.

Across our schools and communities, we invite our students, families and staff to be All In, to deepen understanding, celebrate culture, and continue walking together toward a more just and connected future.

How will your school or family be “All In” for reconciliation this week?

On 26 May, we acknowledge National Sorry Day, a day of reflection, respect and remembrance across our education communities.

National Sorry Day honours the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations Survivors and acknowledges the lasting impacts of policies that led to the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities and Country.

It is a day that calls us to truth-telling and understanding, recognising that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment, grounded in listening, learning and walking together with respect.

Across our education system, we pause to reflect, learn and engage in conversations that deepen understanding and strengthen our collective commitment to reconciliation.
We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present, and to the continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

Our Year 6 students are incredibly proud as they step into their final year and officially cement their place as leaders of the school. đź’™

Wearing their new jerseys with pride, they are ready to lead by example, support their peers, and make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.

We can’t wait to see the positive impact they will have throughout the year!
