Congratulations, Swampy, the school scarecrow on winning 2nd place in the scarecrow competition at the Melbourne Flower & Garden Show. Billie, in Year 5, was part of the team led by Veronica, our Kitchen Garden Assistant, who made Swampy. Billie had this to say when she heard the news: "I am proud that we won second place. I made Swampy's nose, with Sid, by sewing felt. We also used scrap felt as nose stuffing." We look forward to Swampy's triumphant homecoming next week.

Help Needed for Swampy! 🌻

Deans Marsh PS has entered a scarecrow in the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show this year — and “Swampy” is already in place!

We just have a few small finishing touches that need to be added before judging at 3:00pm tomorrow.

If anyone from our community is heading into Melbourne before then, we would be so grateful if you could take these items in for us.

Please contact:
Veronica – 0419 378 733
Annabelle – 0497 704 106

Thank you so much for your support — let’s help Swampy look his best!

A big thank you to all the families who were able to join us for our school's annual swim carnival. The carnival was the best way to celebrate all the efforts of students (and our staff) over our 2-week swimming program. All the traditional races were there, such as freestyle and backstroke, but there were also creative events like the dress up relay and the junior ball gathering. For the record, this year's winning house was Bambra house. Thank you to the fabulous team at the Winchelsea pool for looking after us so well over the past 2 weeks. See you next year!

The 2026 school year has begun with a big turn out at our annual "Welcome BBQ". The weather was perfect, as our staff served over 150 sausages, veggie burgers, and pancakes to students and parents as they mingled and got to know our new families. Thank you to Hannah and Mario from Pennyroyal Raspberry farm for your delicious donations of berries and jams. It is great to have lots of new students to share in our daily adventures, with enough Preps for our first straight Prep class (non composite class) in memory. A big warm welcome to Deans Marsh Primary School!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the school's 150th Birthday Party. The weather was kind to us, as was the big crowd of past and present students, staff, and friends of the school. Many guests descended on the school to chat, reminisce, and celebrate Deans Marsh Primary School. We still have some memorabilia books and mugs for sale if you contact the school.

Our school's 150th birthday party is just around the corner and excitement levels are building. We are going all out to make sure the school is celebrated in style, so don't miss out! Our Year 5-6 King Parrots class recently had a surprise visit from our event MC, Andrew Stewart, who shared some great stories from the past. Please reach out to the school if you want to get more involved on the day or during the special 3 days leading up to the party.

Our term 3 inquiry topic, "Country 2 Coast" has wrapped up with some fabulous hands-on moments for our students. Our Bambra wetlands day was well supported by LandCare volunteers and Parks Vic, where students participated in six activities including damper making and cubby building in this unique inland environment. Each class also has taken turns travelling to Lorne to explore the special coastline and rockpools, and have enjoyed studying the shells, seaweed, and crabs. Well done teachers, Ed support, & students, this was a great term of learning in nature!
