🎾 BRUCE CUP CHAMPIONS! 🏆💛💜

An outstanding result for Queensland at the National School Tennis Championships, The Bruce Cup, held last week at Pat Rafter Arena!

Sandgate State High School student Anya Dektereva-Plant played a key role in Queensland’s impressive campaign, helping the team secure an outright national victory after defeating ACT, NT, SA, Victoria, NSW, Tasmania and Western Australia throughout the week.

Playing No. 2 in Queensland’s seven-player girls team, Anya produced an incredible run of singles victories, including wins over two players ranked inside the Australian Top 10. She also backed up her singles performances with strong results across girls' doubles and mixed doubles.

What an incredible achievement, Anya! Your dedication, skill and consistency on the national stage have made your school and Queensland very proud.

The Sandgate District State High School Senior Stage Band travelled to the Queensland Children’s Hospital at South Bank on Friday 28th August to perform for a regular event held by the hospital called Food Truck Fridays. These days are organised by the hospital to thank staff and to provide some joy for the residents.
For the last few years our musicians have been providing some musical entertainment to put a smile on the faces of residents, family members and staff. This year, the Senior Stage Band was joined by some SDSHS alumni musicians who not only sat in with the senior stage band but also performed some charts on their own. It was a great day out for everyone involved and I would especially like to thank those alumni members for giving up their own time and adding that extra spark to the performance.
Congratulations to everyone involved and I will look forward to this becoming a regular event for our musicians.

🎓 Congratulations to our 2026 QATSIF Graduands: Juanita, Brianna, Beatrix, Holly and Noah!
On Tuesday 25 August, Ms McKiness and Mrs McGoldrick had the pleasure of watching these outstanding students graduate at Griffith University’s Nathan campus.
Each student is a very worthy recipient of a QATSIF scholarship, recognising their dedication, achievements and commitment to their education.
We are incredibly proud of you all and look forward to seeing what your bright futures hold. Congratulations on this wonderful achievement! 🖤💛❤️

What a wonderful Wear It Purple Day we had on Wednesday 26 August! 💜

A huge thank you to all our staff and students who embraced the day, participated in the activities and helped create such a positive and inclusive atmosphere across our school.

Our Student Support Hub team organised a fantastic range of activities, including games, treats, craft activities and a photo booth. 📸🎨 Ms Everson and our face painting students were also busy painting sparky rainbows throughout the day, adding plenty of colour to the student masses! 🌈

We also enjoyed some great sounds from our talented Stage Band, helping to make the day even more special. 🎶

Thank you to everyone who helped make Wear It Purple Day a celebration of inclusion, acceptance, diversity and belonging at SDSHS. 💜
