The Seed Catalogue has been replenished!

All seeds have originated from certified organic sources, grown by me over multiple seasons in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia.

Check out what’s available (www.dosebotanicals.com.au/seeds) to get prepped for early spring planting if you so please… if there’s anything you’re after in particular that isn’t listed, reach out via the contact form on my website or email ([email protected]). I also provide cuttings and potted plants on special request. Most of the orders I get at the moment are custom made and I can grow to order for the season ahead as well.

There’s a decent amount of info and growing tips on each species listed, but always happy to give some advice or more nuanced tips and tricks I’ve learnt along the way.

💚No chemical or natural pesticides, farmed following Australian Certified Organic guidelines

🛑 Currently not able to post internationally, Western Australia or Tasmania due to quarantine restrictions unfortunately…

This balm is specially formulated with potent extracts of comfrey, arnica & pine resin. Comfrey and arnica have been traditionally used to aid recovery from physical trauma, particularly that of bruising, sprains and swelling. The addition of pine resin intends to aid in the easing of pain and restoration of movement to the injured area, particularly in cases of rheumatism and joint inflammation. It’s a great addition to your general first aid kit.

🤝 Certified Organic ingredients
🌿 Homegrown, locally sourced, ethically wildcrafted

Instructions: Apply to affected area & gently massage in until semi-absorbed, allow the rest to absorb naturally. Bandage if support is necessary - follow general first aid instructions. [NOTE: it is a hard balm, but will become more malleable once applying to the skin]

Mandrake repotting and propagation this past full moon 🌕

One of my most cherished friends. The eldest is 6 years old I think, originally grown from seed by me, soaked in my blood and saliva. Since, they have birthed a handful of children but I’ve yet to have harvested any for myself (maybe next year). Mandragora’s presence alone is potent medicine 🫡 💜

Saint John’s (or Joan’s) wort (Hypericum perforatum) ☀️

Traditionally, topical application of hypericum has been used for nerve pain relief and tissue repair, as well as in treating herpes simplex outbreaks. For maximum potency and quality, we infuse fresh, bruised hypericum in 100% certified organic castor oil (Ricinus communis). Castor oil, known in antiquity as Oleum Cicinum, is nutrient-rich and contains ricinoleic acid. Its warming properties help modulate inflammation and deeper tissue conditions, whilst stimulating lymph flow.

This oil helped save my back when I was folded in half by a massive tree falling on me and my car back in 2020.

White Sage (Salvia apiana)

There is much controversy and important discussion around the use of white sage outside of Native American cultures, particularly with the rise of spiritualism and multicultural adoptions within western practices.

Our intention is not to contribute to cultural appropriation but rather comes from a place of personal communion and story of how we came about our original mother plant and seed. We have been facilitating the growth and reproduction of these plants’ genetics to our bioregion within Australia for approximately 10 years; bypassing the contribution to over-harvesting and importation of white sage from Original sacred ground.

FREE article and compiled info of some holistic (physiological) approaches to Substance Use Disorder and acute withdrawal, along with some potentially helpful herbal interventions.

This is not intended for the over-riding of important medically-assisted care when tapering off addictive substances, especially with long-term dependency. Often I will use this resource in tandem when working in an integrated environment with other specialists for clients in both in and outpatient rehabilitation.

I’m making it available to those interested, particularly other practitioners assisting clients with substance dependency.

(Apologies for the weird layout of the tables in mobile view - I’m still trying to work out the tech side of this whole blog thing).

2020 findings noted "archeological evidence of cannabis resins burnt in an ancient Hebrew temple emerge out of Jerusalem, further confirming the identification of 'kaneh bosm' as 'cannabis'" - Chris Bennett (Cannabis historian, researcher & author)

It's time we acknowledge cannabis has played integral roles in the evolution (medical, agricultural, industrial, psychological and spiritual) of humankind. Stop the stigma and elitist control. Don't be fooled by Australia's 'progress' in the medical cannabis industry - it is under corporate control. Whilst regulation helps us with quality control and as a basis for further research development, herbal medicines should NOT be held hostage for profit - ever.

“The discovery of cannabis residue on an ancient altar in Israel is presented with amazement by the archaeologists although one wonders where they have been for the last century. The kaneh-bosem of Exodus was identified as cannabis by Sula Benet nearly a century ago and has been the subject of...

Artemisia absinthium • Wormwood

As a member of the Artemisia (Antemideae) clan, sacred to the Greek goddess Artemis - sister of Apollo and sibling of healing -wormwood has played a sacred role throughout history. The infamous psychotropic alcohol, absinthe, is derived from oil of wormwood although is no longer prepared in such a manner due to potential adverse effects believed to be caused by high intake of the alkaloid thujone. Medicinal wines of the ancient world have also incorporated the use of wormwood, including peoples of China, Egypt and Yemen. In European folk medicine, wormwood is one of the most significant gynaecological medicines for abortion and induction of menstruation and labor - predominantly due to its thujone content (higher content occurs with higher altitude of growing conditions) •

Believed to be one of the most important herbs in the medieval European materia medica, Galen claimed it “liquefies and washes the bad humors retained in the stomach, causing them to descend, after which the stomach contracts and strengthens”. This mechanism is attributed to its powerful aromatic bitter and tonifying qualities •

In tea form, wormwood is used primarily for ailments of digestion incl. loss of appetite, stomach pains, feeling of fullness, gallbladder insufficiency, liver congestion, vomiting, diarrhoea and for dispelling intestinal worms. As a powerful vermifuge, wormwood may also be rubbed on the skin to deter mosquitos. •

One of my favourite things about wormwood is its help in the integration or processing of dreaming, alleviating night terrors and disturbed sleep. There are so many amazing things about wormwood and differing preparations. Too much to write here!! Stay tuned for a wormwood distillation in the coming weeks where I will post some more information about working with wormwood 🍸
