Yesterday, our Bloom Dawesville community came together for a Gold Coin Donation Pyjama Day to support one of our former educators and valued Bloom family as they prepare to take part in Relay For Life this October.

It was wonderful to see so many children and educators arrive in their favourite pyjamas while supporting such an important cause. Every gold coin donated will help make a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity and kindness shown by our families.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. Your support reminds us of the strength of our Bloom community when we come together for a cause that matters.

Our little learners in the Seeds (Babies) Room have been exploring a wonderful self-recognition activity using wooden blocks featuring their own photographs alongside mirrors.

As the children looked into the mirrors and matched their reflections to the photos on the blocks, they were beginning to recognise themselves as unique individuals.

Self-recognition is an important developmental milestone that supports a child's emerging sense of identity and belonging. These early experiences help babies develop self-awareness, build confidence, and begin to understand that they are separate individuals with their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Our Seedlings children have been exploring the colours of the rainbow by learning the Auslan signs for each colour through a hands-on rainbow pasta sensory experience.

As the children engaged with the colourful pasta, they practised matching colours with their Auslan signs, strengthening their understanding through repetition, play, and meaningful interactions.

Learning Auslan introduces children to another way of communicating and helps build an early appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

By incorporating Auslan into our everyday learning experiences, we are encouraging children to recognise that communication comes in many forms. Developing this awareness from a young age nurtures empathy, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone in our community.
This engaging experience also supported children's language development, fine motor skills, colour recognition, and confidence as they communicated using their hands in a fun and meaningful way.

EYLF Learning Outcomes:
• Outcome 1: Children develop a strong sense of identity as they build confidence communicating in different ways and develop respect for diversity and inclusion.
• Outcome 2: Children become connected with and contribute to their world by developing an understanding and appreciation of different languages, cultures, and ways of communicating.
• Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners as they explore, investigate, and make connections through sensory, hands-on experiences.
• Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators as they engage with verbal and non-verbal forms of communication, expanding their language and expressive skills through Auslan.

One of the hardest parts of working in early childhood education is saying goodbye to the wonderful families who become such a big part of our community.

Today, we say farewell to the Pricilio family.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your children's early learning journey and for the many special memories we've shared together.

We wish your family all the very best on your new adventure. You'll always be a part of our centre family, and you'll be greatly missed. ❤️

Celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC Week ❤️🖤💛

This week our children have been exploring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Our beautiful "50 Years of NAIDOC" collaborative display encouraged children to express their creativity using traditional NAIDOC colours, dot painting and weaving techniques while learning about this year's milestone celebration.

The children also created handprint artwork inspired by the Aboriginal flag, providing opportunities to talk about the significance of the flag, identity, belonging and the importance of recognising the rich cultures and histories of Australia's First Nations Peoples.

These experiences support the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) by promoting:
•Outcome 1: Children develop a strong sense of identity through belonging and respect for culture.
•Outcome 2: Children become connected with and contribute to their world by developing an appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives.
•Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners as they explore different art techniques, experiment with materials and express their ideas. •Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators as they share stories, ask questions and express their understanding through creative arts.

We are proud to celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC Week, honouring the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while fostering respect, inclusion and cultural understanding from an early age.
❤️🖤💛
