We love having our incredible alumni back at Darwin High School! This week, Violet (2025) and Winnie (2006) returned to speak with Year 12 students about post-school pathways and the traits drive success in education and work. Winnie’s sister Charlotte, also an alumna, joined the session too.

Winnie is a GP at Danila Dilba, Senior Research Fellow at Menzies School of Health Research and the University of Sydney, and lecturer at Flinders University. Violet is a recent graduate studying Commerce at the University of Melbourne and is a Student Ambassador for St Hilda’s College.

The Darwin High School Seniors' Morning of Entertainment is a much-loved community event celebrating Seniors' Month.

Complete with performances from and morning tea prepared by students,

Chemical Engineer. Seaweed cultivator. Former student.

Students had the opportunity to hear from 2012 graduate Alison Duguid - Founder of North Australian SeaCulture - whose work is about unlocking the environmental and economic potential of seaweed.

Alison shared her story from the teachers, students and family who helped her from Year 12 at Darwin High School, to her own start up cultivating seaweed - with current trials underway in Darwin.

She also brought along her Mum, Tanya, who also attended Darwin High School and has contributed strongly to Darwin in her own right.

Bilawara Lee (OAM) is a familiar face in Gulmerrogin (Greater Darwin).

The First Nations Academic in Residence at Charles Darwin University is a Darwin High School alum – attending the school in its early years!

Bilawara is committed to educating the broader community about Larrakia knowledge and language and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2024 for her services to the community.

🏆 Congratulations to the Winner of the 2026 Northern Territory Government Small Business Achievement Award, Sam Wright!

Sam Wright is dedicated to driving business success and lasting community impact. Sam founded Wired Wright Electrical Contracting, a Northern Territory electrical services provider, specialising in power and water and government projects. Sam's technical expertise, determination, and hands-on leadership have rapidly built a company known for quality, reliability, and professionalism across complex and remote work. Besides delivering infrastructure, Sam invests deeply in people, mentoring young Territorians and promoting apprenticeships, accountability, and pride in the trade as well as supporting local clubs and organisations. He prioritises work-life balance for his team, leading by example while managing critical projects himself.

Lights, camera, inspiration! Last week Miss Jemima’s Stage 1 and 2 Film students took part in an exciting workshop with local filmmaker and Darwin High School Alumni Tully Hemsley.

After screening his short film Cornwallis, Tully shared insights into his creative process, highlighting storytelling, collaboration, and perseverance. Students loved seeing his journey from high school film projects to professional work, and left feeling inspired about what’s possible.

✨Alumni Spotlight: Alyson Stobo-Wilson (2006) ✨

Alyson's research work was the first targeted ecological study on the savanna glider; an incredible example of how our Darwin High alumni continue to deepen our knowledge of Northern Australia.

We were pleased to welcome Alyson back last term to share some of her story with current students.

Congratulations to 2004 Alum Vanja Bulut, recognised by her peers as “Lawyer of the Year” in Labour and Employment Law (Sydney) by Best Lawyers 2027.
