Last term as part of their Geography Unit of work, Room 1 were learning about how to care for the local environment. They investigated what could be recycled and what could be reused and complimented the Nemarluk sustainability program by taking 10c containers to the bins. ♻🗑

The class looked at what was natural and man-made in the environment and discussed places they liked to visit to enjoy both features.

One local place was Alawa Farm. The class walked across the oval to explore what the farm had to offer in terms of plants and animals.
There were quite a few fruit and vegetable plants and trees for students to look at and smell, but it was the animals that were the real hit.
There were goats 🐐, chickens 🐔, ducks 🦆, rabbits 🐇and fish 🐟 to name most of them.
The students were exceptionally well behaved, staying on the path, listening to instructions and joining in with Alawa school students in their outdoor learning area to clean out the rabbit cage. 🧹🧼
It was a fun excursion, and the students learnt a lot about caring for our environment. 🌳🌱

ENVISAGE-Families programs are now open for registrations for Term Four. ENVISAGE-Families is a free, evidence based peer support program for parents and caregivers raising children aged 0–8 years with developmental concerns, complex medical needs, disability or neurodivergence.

Across five weekly interactive online sessions, families are supported by a trained health professional alongside a parent with lived experience. The program focuses on building confidence, peer connection and practical strategies, and is designed to complement - not replace - the supports families already receive from local services and organisations.

Importantly, no diagnosis or NDIS plan is required, and the program is fully funded by the Australian Government, meaning there is no cost to families and carers.

This term, Room 5 explored natural and constructed features of places while using maps and location skills to investigate the layout of our school. 🗺📜

As part of their Geography learning, students had a go at planting seeds and maintaining a garden🌱, developing their understanding of how people interact with and care for their environment. Students learned about technology through Bee-Bots🐝, creating a large class map to help the Bee-Bots navigate different areas of the school. Using photographs and a variety of creative tools, students designed and decorated the map, adding features such as grassed areas and pathways for the robots to follow. 🌾🌳

The class has been engaging in a range of sensory play experiences to support peer interaction, communication, and turn-taking skills. Students have shown significant growth in their ability to interact positively with others, demonstrating greater respect for personal space and boundaries while developing their social skills.

During the term, the class began weekly swimming sessions 🏊, and the students are absolutely loving them! Through their lessons with Elice, students have been building their confidence in the water while developing important pool safety awareness, listening skills, and the ability to follow instructions. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and progress each week.

Room 6 have been busy building their skip-counting skills!
During Term 3, they were practicing counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, and learning how these skills can be used in everyday activities such as reading the time and counting money. 💸🕐

Students have also been enjoying messy play in the mornings, including painting🎨🖌, science experiments 🧪 and sensory activities. These hands-on experiences are a fun way to ease into the school day, explore new ideas and develop confidence and readiness to learn.
It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, exploring and having fun together!

Week 10 Book Week Parade 📚🎶 Symphony of Stories

To finish up the last few days of Term 3, we held our Book Week parade during the Whole School Assembly! Classes performed their chosen stories with beautiful songs 🎤🎵, costumes and dances 💃, followed by a parade with all the classes at the end!

The CDC also presented awards to students who have shown outstanding behaviour on the buses over this term- Congratulations to all of our students who were awarded for being safe and respectful learners on their travels to and from school! ☺️🎉🚌
