🐜⭐️ Early Years Assembly ⭐🐜

In Week 6, Nemarluk held our Early Years Assembly for Term 3. We would like to give a big congratulations to all of our lower primary students who received a classroom award! 👏
We would also like to welcome all of our new students and families who have started this term, we hope they are settling in well. 😊

The Karama Satellite Class has had a busy and exciting start to the term. They have enjoyed many opportunities to learn, participate, explore and have fun together.

NAIDOC Celebrations 🎉
Karama students participated in a wonderful NAIDOC celebration. Students enjoyed being part of the activities while learning about and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions. It was wonderful to see students enjoyed face painting with lots of excitement and connecting with the wider school community.

Swimming Program 🏊‍♀️
The beginning of the term was extra exciting with two weeks of swimming! Students had a wonderful time in the pool while developing their swimming skills, confidence and water safety awareness.

The students in Room 1 are always interested by what is inside their friends’ lunchboxes, and so this term this interest is being explored by doing a cooking session once a week. 😋🍴

There are so many elements to cooking which develop skills across literacy, numeracy, science, fine motor, and personal care.

The recipes are presented in pictograph form, allowing the students to work as independently as they can to find the required ingredients in the fridge and cupboard, see what utensils are required and to anticipate what is next….
Through measuring 📏 and weighing ⚖ our ingredients there is a whole area of maths being explored - even fractions are brought in when it's time to share!

Clean hands and hand washing are necessary before cooking and food preparation, and of course so is the washing up after! 🧼🍽

We are happy to thank Variety SA – the Children's Charity for their contribution towards our new sensory ball pit 🥳. Their investment in our students' wellbeing and learning has provided a fantastic resource that is already making a positive impact.

The ball pit has quickly become a favourite with our students, who are enjoying the opportunity to play, build friendships, and develop important social skills. 🤗

This term, Nightcliff Satellite have been learning about Geography 🌎, for their current unit they have been learning about places around Darwin.

As part of their learning, students have been practising their home addresses. They have learnt how to write their address on an envelope, add a stamp, and post a letter.

Towards the end of the term, teachers want to repeat this activity to help reinforce students' knowledge of their addresses and where their homes are located on a map. It has been a fun and meaningful way to build real-world literacy and geography skills. ✉🐜

Over the past couple of weeks, the Wulagi class has been very fortunate to welcome Delane’s Nanna, Lynette Fejo, into their classroom to share her knowledge of Indigenous culture and art with them. 🎨🖌

During her visits, Lynette shared stories and knowledge with the students and guided them through some wonderful hands-on art experiences. The students created their own Indigenous-inspired animal paintings and designed and made their very own tie-dyed T-shirts. 🦀🐍

The students thoroughly enjoyed having Lynette visit and loved the opportunity to learn, create and explore culture through art.
A big thank you to Lynette for generously sharing her time, knowledge and creativity with the Wulagi class!

Stuart Park 1 started Term 3 with a bang! They quickly settled back into their classroom and have been busy with lots of exciting learning.

Unit of Work: Students have been exploring their neighbourhood and community by looking at maps and identifying familiar local landmarks.

📖 Literacy: They have been focusing on recount writing and building confidence when sharing their work by reading aloud to others.

➕ Numeracy: Students have been practising the addition strategy of ‘counting on’ by ‘keeping the big number in their head’ and applying it, while having some fun during rotations.

They look forward to an exciting term ahead! 🤗🎉

This week, the Upper Primary students had their first assembly for the term! 🐜

The NTLC students presented their new mobile library, which is now available on campus for classes to book. 📚

We were also glad to have Justine Davis attend, helping to present classroom awards to our students! Congratulations to all the students who were given an award. 😁

Millner 1 students have had a fantastic and busy start to the term, participating in the intensive swimming program and beginning their horse-riding sessions! 🏇🏊‍♀️
In Term 2, they also visited the Language Centre and the former Nemarluk School as part of the community celebrations. 🎉

These experiences have provided valuable opportunities for students to engage with the wider community. Students are continuing to build their stamina, confidence, and independence while working in groups, visiting new places, and communicating with a variety of people. It has been wonderful to see their social skills, resilience, and enthusiasm grow through these meaningful learning experiences. 😁
