Students at Manunda 2 had a fantastic time at Manunda Terrace school Sports Day πŸ‰ in Week 8. They enthusiastically participated in a range of engaging events such as Rob the Bird’s Nest 🐀, egg and spoon races πŸ₯„πŸ₯š, sack races and parachute activities πŸͺ‚

Throughout the morning, students showed great energy working as a team and cheering each other on as they worked together to complete each challenge ⚑. It was a fun-filled and active morning that not only encouraged participation, but also helped students develop important skills in cooperation, resilience and being a good sport 😊

Millner 2 class created several artworks to enter into the Litchfield Rural Show Art Competition πŸŽ¨πŸ–. Each student designed an individual artwork piece for the NT subject category, using natural materials to create a rural bushland landscape 🌿🌻. As a class, we also collaborated on a large collage to enter in the Group Mural category.

We are happy to share that Joshua won 1st πŸ₯‡and Simon won 2nd for 5 year and under category πŸ₯³! In the 6- 8 year old category, Zayne won 1st place and Dalton won 3rd place πŸŽ‰. Our class also won 1st place for the group project! πŸ†

πŸ”’βœ¨ Numeracy in Preschool βœ¨πŸ”’

In Preschool, students explore numeracy concepts through structured play, rotations and intentional teaching opportunities. Through activities focused on problem-solving, numbers, patterns, shapes, measurement, time, spatial awareness, and technology, students build important foundational skills πŸ“šπŸ§©

Some of our learning experiences include completing puzzles, singing counting songs 🎡, weighing objects βš–οΈ, counting with one-to-one correspondence 🐸, matching tasks, sorting objects by colour, size and shape 🌈, exploring sensory trays, and rolling dice games 🎲

Activities are completed individually, in small groups, and as a whole class to encourage independence, peer learning, turn-taking, and sharing. These experiences help us support and extend each student's numeracy development throughout the year⭐

This term, as part of celebrating Nemarluk School’s 40th birthday πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰, students in Room 8 explored games played by children in the past as part of their unit of work.

Students had great fun learning and playing traditional games such as hopscotch and marbles while discussing how children entertained themselves before technology and electronic devices were common. It was wonderful to see students developing teamwork, turn-taking, coordination, and problem-solving skills while experiencing activities enjoyed by previous generations. The students especially enjoyed comparing these old-fashioned games to the games they play today. πŸ€—
