Congratulations to Thomas Lynch on completing his Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology with Unique Auto Tech! 🔧 🎉

Thomas took a different path to his trade. After leaving high school early, joining the military and operating machinery on worksites around Australia, he decided at 48 years old to undertake an adult apprenticeship and turn his existing knowledge into a formal trade qualification.

Taking on an apprenticeship later in life came with its challenges, including the financial commitment and learning new skills while unlearning some old habits. With the support of his employer, Apprenticeships NT and the team at Charles Darwin University, Thomas was able to complete his qualification.

His experience also reinforced that there is always more to learn, particularly as technology and diagnostic techniques continue to evolve.

Thomas, your commitment is something to be proud of! 👏

Another great Power Talk session done! 🔧

Apprenticeship Mentor, Sam Lelekis headed to Good Sparks Electrical for a morning packed with practical support and good conversations.

We had four guest speakers in the room, covering everything from mental health and gambling awareness to training records and support:
🔹 Karl Neilsen, MATES in Construction QLD & NT
🔹 Luyi Yang, Amity Community Services
🔹 Michelle Morrison, Charles Darwin University
🔹 Toni Kirkpatrick, Apprenticeships NT

A huge thank you to Good Sparks Electrical for hosting, our guest speakers for sharing their time and expertise, and the apprentices who showed up, asked questions and got involved.

Congratulations to Ranty Labasi, who recently completed her Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician with Eco Tech Electrical pty ltd! ⚡

“𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙠𝙞𝙙𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚.”

Ranty’s interest in electricity started when she was young, sparked by her fascination with plasma globes and how electricity works. When her uncle suggested an electrical apprenticeship, it felt like the right fit.

As an Indigenous woman and single mum, Ranty juggled her apprenticeship, trade school and raising her kids. With the support of her family, workplace and mentors, she worked through some tough times and kept moving forward.

After joining Eco Tech Electrical, Ranty found a supportive work crew and gained experience across a broad range of electrical work.

Now, she’s staying on with Eco Tech Electrical, completing her solar and battery accreditation and putting her Certificate IV in Instrumentation and Control to use.

And she’s already looking ahead. Once she has more experience under her belt, Ranty would love to mentor new apprentices and support others starting their own journey.

Congratulations, Ranty! 👏🏽
