Muddy Dub Lil’Shadow recently commenced his Certificate III in Barbering with Trim Proper.

Muddy is looking forward to gaining new skills, learning a trade, and building his future career. His apprenticeship will also contribute towards the completion of his Year 12 Certificate.

Trim & Proper is a newly established business located in Darwin City. Owners Tien and Chris bring years of industry experience and are excited to support Muddy throughout his apprenticeship, sharing their knowledge and helping him develop his skills in the barbering industry. 😎

SME has had a busy first half of 2026!

Most exciting was bringing on Brad our 2nd year apprentice in early May, we're stoked to have him apart of the team.

Another big milestone was Morgan stepping into a full time admin role at the start of the year.

We're looking forward to what the rest of 2026 has to offer.

🌟 Meet our first 2026 NAWIC NT Trailblazer 🌟

We’re proud to announce Trenna Gibsone as the first featured Trailblazer for the 2026 NAWIC NT Trailblazers Event. 👏

Trenna brings extensive hands-on experience across the private and public sectors and now contributes her expertise within the not-for-profit space. Her career has spanned a diverse range of roles, from contract administration through to workforce planning and development.

Currently serving as General Manager of Apprenticeships Northern Territory, Trenna leads the delivery and management of apprenticeships and traineeships across the Territory, overseeing teams in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs to strengthen workforce outcomes across the region.

Passionate about increasing opportunities for women in trades, particularly within construction and other traditionally male-dominated industries, Trenna is a strong advocate for creating inclusive pathways that encourage and support women entering the sector.

With significant experience working on major construction projects in Darwin and Katherine — often as the only female on site — Trenna understands firsthand the challenges and culture of the industry. Her ongoing connection to construction continues through supporting her partner’s construction business outside of work.

Her leadership, advocacy and commitment to supporting the next generation make her a true Trailblazer. ✨
