It’s Book Week! ✨

This week our rooms will be filled with stories, imagination, creativity and lots of opportunities for the children to bring their favourite characters to life.

📖 Bring along a favourite book to share
🧸 Bring a labelled teddy or character toy for story time
👒 Wednesday 26th + Thursday 27th: Dress as a favourite book or movie character
🎨 Plus plenty of storytelling, songs, dramatic play and book-inspired experiences throughout the week

We’re looking forward to seeing which stories and characters make an appearance! 📚💫

📚✨ Book Week is almost here at Tropics!
Next week we’re celebrating the magic of stories, imagination and all the wonderful places books can take us.

Throughout the week, the children will enjoy storytelling, songs, dramatic play, creative experiences and plenty of time exploring some much loved books together.

Families are welcome to join in the fun by:
📖 Bringing along your child’s favourite book to share
🧸 Sending a favourite teddy, character toy or soft toy for story time — just make sure it’s clearly labelled
👒 Dressing your child as their favourite book or movie character on Wednesday 26th and/or Thursday 27th August

Costumes are completely optional, and we recommend packing a spare set of clothes in case your little one decides they’ve had enough of being in character for the day. 🤭
We can’t wait for a week full of stories, creativity and imagination! 💛

🧩 Sometimes, the simplest toys offer the richest learning experiences.
Blocks, play dough, loose parts, nature treasures and dramatic play resources don't tell children what to do, they invite them to imagine, explore and create.
Unlike toys with one set purpose, open ended materials encourage children to think creatively, solve problems, build confidence and develop important social and communication skills through play.
The best part? These resources grow alongside your child. A cardboard box might become a race car today, a rocket tomorrow and a shop next week!

At Tropics, we intentionally provide opportunities for open ended play because we know that when children are free to follow their curiosity, some of the most meaningful learning begins. 💚

🦷 Building independence, one little routine at a time.

Learning how to care for ourselves is such an important part of early childhood, and experiences like this help make those everyday routines fun, familiar and engaging.

While exploring teeth brushing, the children are not only learning about healthy habits, they’re also building confidence, strengthening fine motor skills and developing the independence to have a go for themselves. 💚

It’s these simple, hands on moments that help children grow their self help skills in meaningful ways.

Little Builders at Work 👷

Sometimes the simplest play experiences create the biggest learning opportunities.
As children scoop, push, load and build together, they're developing fine motor skills, learning to share resources, communicating with their peers and exploring cause and effect through hands on play.
At Tropics, every dig, scoop and truckload is another opportunity to learn through play. 💚

What to Pack in Your Child's Bag 🎒

A well packed bag helps your child's day run smoothly and ensures they're comfortable, prepared and ready for all the fun that comes with a busy day of learning and play. 💚

Here's our quick checklist:
✔️ Spare clothes (because adventures can get messy!)
✔️ A labelled water bottle
✔️ A hat for outdoor play
✔️ A comfort item if your child needs one
✔️ Weather-appropriate clothing

✨ Top tip: Labelling your child's belongings makes it much easier for our educators to return them if they end up in the wrong bag.
