Nungalinya College

It was great to welcome Church Aid national director, Greg Harris, to Nungalinya this week. We are extremely thankful to God for the support of BCA for trainer Emily Quinn, Anglican dean Annette Anderson, our Indigenous chaplains and our Indigenous co-teachers. Not only do they support us financially but this brings in the whole BCA network to be praying for the significant work God is doing through Nungalinya. Thank you, BCA!

Our travel team is hard at work finalising arrivals, last minute changes and room allocations as students arrive ready to start classes tomorrow!

🙏 Thank God for our awesome travel, admin and residential teams who work really hard behind the scenes to make sure things run smoothly. 🙏 Pray students hearts and minds would be ready for learning and growth over these next four weeks and for energy and strength for all our trainers.

Congratulations to those students who graduated from our Foundation Studies courses last week. You can be very proud of your efforts and we pray God will continue to use you as you return home to your communities.

Our Foundation Studies courses are literacy and numeracy courses taught through major Bible characters and themes, with a discipleship emphasis.

Have you ever thought about how many children's books on Jesus' parables are available in English? There are many! Our Children's Ministry cohort are focusing on parables from Matthew's gospel and thinking about how to re-tell them in their own communities. As part of this they are illustrating the parables they are learning and where possible writing about them in their own languages. This will be compiled as a book they can take home with them to use as a resource with the children in their families and churches.

Certificate II in English as an Additional language is our highest level 'Foundation Studies' course. The Foundation Studies program at Nungalinya is basic literacy and numeracy courses, contextualised around the Bible. Completing Foundation Studies courses at Nungalinya strengthens the faith of our students, grows their understanding of the Bible and improves their English written literacy which gives them access to further education.

Over their three years, Certificate II students study an overview of the Old Testament, an overview of the New Testament and an overview of how the whole Bible story fits together, which is what they are looking at this year.

We love welcoming these students and seeing their passion and commitment for growing in faith and spreading God's peace to others.
