🎓 YEAR 12 GRADUATION | TICKET REMINDER

Year 12 families, it’s time to make sure you’ve booked your tickets for the Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony!

⏰ Don’t miss out — the initial ticket release closes in under a fortnight, on Friday 16 October. https://compasstix.com/e/7cuf0idevq

Each graduating student can register for up to two guest tickets during the initial ticket release. Guest registration is required, so make sure you secure your family’s tickets before the deadline.

🎓 Graduation: Friday 13 November 2026
📍 Darwin Convention Centre
🕠 Ceremony: 5.30pm–7.30pm

Following the initial ticket release, any remaining seats will be made available for additional guest bookings from Monday 19 October. Additional tickets will be limited and are not guaranteed.

📺 A live stream will also be available for family and friends who are unable to attend in person.

Make sure you register your guest tickets before Friday 16 October so you don’t miss out! 🎓💙

Reminder: Mobile Phones & Payments at School

A reminder to students and families about the updated requirements for mobile phones and personal digital devices at school.

Students can no longer use their mobile phone to make payments at school.

This means Apple Pay, Google Pay and other mobile payment methods cannot be used for canteen purchases, excursions or school activities.

Students must use cash or a physical bank card to make purchases at school.

For canteen purchases, families can also order online through Compass as an alternative to purchasing at the canteen.

Students may still bring mobile phones to school, but they must be switched off, stored securely in their bag and not used during the school day.

Huge congratulations to Year 9 student Mark O’Connor, who has been selected to represent Australia in the U15 FIFA World Cup! 🇦🇺👏

What an incredible achievement! Mark’s hard work, dedication and passion for football have earned him an amazing opportunity to pull on the green and gold and compete on the international stage. 💚💛

Happy last day of the mid-semester break!

We hope our students and staff have enjoyed a well-deserved break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the term ahead.

Our staff return on Monday for a Professional Development Day to prepare for another busy and exciting term of learning and opportunities.

📚 Students return Tuesday at 8.00am.

A special shout-out to all our Stage 2 students, who head into Trial Exam Week in Week 1. 🎓 Please remember to check Compass for your exam times and expectations, and make sure you’re prepared for the week ahead.

We can’t wait to see everyone back on Tuesday for Term 4.

What a wonderful way to finish Term 3!

Our Year 7, 8 and 9 Indonesian students finished the term by experiencing Indonesian culture through food and traditional games.

Students enjoyed lemper and martabak manis, before putting their skills to the test with congklak — a traditional game that encourages counting, arithmetic, strategic thinking and decision-making. 🍚🥞🎲

These activities were a fun reward for students’ hard work throughout the term, while also highlighting an important part of learning Indonesian: understanding the culture alongside the language.

It was wonderful to see so many smiles, laughs and moments of connection as students learned, played and shared the experience together.

School Board Governance Training

Thank you to our School Board members who gave up their time to attend Governance Training last term.

It was wonderful to see everyone together, with the session providing an opportunity to build knowledge, clarify individual and collective roles and responsibilities, and strengthen our shared understanding of school governance.

A big thank you to Alice from NTCOGSO for hosting the session, and to our Board members for their thoughtful participation and engagement.

Languages Subject Expo Competition Winner!

During the recent Subject Expo, the Languages team ran a competition challenging students to answer questions about languages, including general language knowledge and information about Languages subject pathways.

A big congratulations to Year 11 student Angeline Salas, who answered every question correctly and was selected as our competition winner!

For her fantastic effort, she has won a portable speaker.

Week 10 Assembly Highlights!

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the term at our Week 10 Assembly! There was plenty to celebrate, recognise and enjoy.

🏆 Tournament of the Minds — both our teams were presented with certificates, and winning team was presented with their medals and school trophy following their outstanding achievement.

📚 History & Geography — congratulations to our students who received Distinction and High Distinction certificates in the annual competitions.

🏃 Bullocky Point Bolt — celebrating our fastest students and recognising this term’s winners!

🎟️ Positive Incentive Rewards — students were recognised for their positive contributions and entered into our reward raffle.

🏅 A special celebration — Ms Mickan was presented with her 2026 AFL Schools Teacher of the Year award as part of the National Volunteer Awards. A wonderful recognition of her outstanding contribution to our students and school community.

🎶💃 Performances — our talented Darwin High School Concert Band and Dance Troupe entertained the school with fantastic performances.

Congratulations to all our students and staff who were recognised and celebrated, and thank you to everyone who helped make our Week 10 Assembly such a memorable way to finish the term!

💛 R U OK? Day 2026

Darwin High School came together on Thursday 10 September to celebrate R U OK? Day and the importance of kindness, connection and checking in with one another.

Our combined Years 7–12 lunchtime event was full of colour, laughter and plenty to enjoy, with therapy dogs, karaoke, live music, a photo booth, smoothie bikes, community stalls, an SRC ice cup and a free sausage sizzle.

Many students and staff also added a touch of yellow to their outfits to embrace the R U OK? theme. 💛

The event was a great opportunity to start conversations that matter, connect with others and raise awareness of mental wellbeing. Funds raised will also support future mental health initiatives.

A huge thank you to our community sponsors, including Member for Fannie Bay Laurie Zio, who sponsored and assisted with the BBQ, and QUBE, who sponsored our incredibly popular photo booth. We also thank all the community organisations who generously joined us to share wellbeing information, activities and support.

R U OK? Day was part of a broader program of wellbeing activities across Weeks 9 and 10, helping us finish the term with a strong focus on connection and wellbeing.

🍰 Signature Desserts Showcase

Our Stage 2 Food and Hospitality students have completed their final practical assessment — creating their very own signature dessert!

Students brought together the skills they have developed throughout the course, showcasing their creativity, planning, presentation and culinary techniques. From delicious flavour combinations to creative plating, each dessert reflected the students’ individual ideas and skills.

Congratulations to all our students on completing their final assessment and an incredible Stage 2 Food and Hospitality journey. We can’t wait to see where your skills take you next!
