π‘ STEM in Action: Dripstone Students Hit the Track with VR Racing & Engineering! ποΈπΆοΈ
Our students recently enjoyed another fantastic STEM workshop with the CDU Radicle Centre, where they explored the exciting world of engineering, design, and virtual reality.
Students took the driver's seat in immersive VR racing simulators, discovering how virtual reality is used to recreate real-world driving conditions while developing skills in precision, reaction time, and problem-solving.
They also put their engineering skills to the test by designing and building LEGO race cars, experimenting with concepts such as aerodynamics, weight distribution, wheelbase, and centre of gravity to see how these factors influence performance.
It was an engaging session of hands-on learning, innovation, and teamwork, giving students the opportunity to apply STEM concepts in a fun and interactive way while experiencing the technology shaping the future.
A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Charles Darwin University, CDU Radicle Centre and DXC Technology for delivering another inspiring workshop. We look forward to continuing to spark curiosity and a passion for STEM in our students!

Any unclaimed lost property remaining at the start of the school holidays will be disposed of.
We encourage students to check for missing items before the end of term to avoid disappointment.

π« Thank you to everyone who attended our first round of Parent Information Nights for students transitioning into Year 7 in 2027 and for families preparing for Senior Secondary Education in 2027.
These information sessions are designed to support families as students prepare for important educational milestones. Families had the opportunity to learn more about senior secondary pathways, student support services, and the many opportunities available at Dripstone Secondary College.
Those who attended our Senior Secondary Information Night also heard first-hand from our current Year 10 students, who shared their experiences and insights about senior secondary education at Dripstone.
For our future Year 7 families, the sessions provided an opportunity to meet our dedicated teachers, explore the college through a guided tour, and discover what makes Dripstone a great place to learn and grow.

π Learning Ambassadors Turning Feedback into Action!
Following the success of our recent Teacher Appreciation Lunch and Feedback Session, our Dripstone Learning Ambassadors have been busy reviewing and analysing the valuable ideas and recommendations shared by their teachers. ππ
Taking this feedback onboard, the Learning Ambassadors worked together to develop a presentation which they delivered at our weekly staff meeting. Their goal was to share the key themes that emerged from the lunchtime discussions and gather even more staff perspectives on how we can improve student attendance, engagement, and learning experiences across the college.
The staff meeting was a fantastic opportunity for meaningful collaboration, with teachers providing further insights, practical suggestions, and thoughtful feedback to help shape future initiatives. The discussions were productive, positive, and reinforced the importance of staff and student voice working together to create positive change. π€
We are incredibly proud of our Learning Ambassadors for demonstrating leadership, initiative, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for all students. Their confidence in presenting to staff and willingness to seek feedback highlights the important role student voice plays in our school community. ππ
With this additional feedback now collected, our Learning Ambassadors will begin developing a formal Plan of Action to guide the next steps of this important work and help turn these ideas into meaningful outcomes for Dripstone Secondary College. ππ
Together, we are building a stronger school community through collaboration, communication, and a shared commitment to student success.

π Bringing History to Life at the Darwin Military Museum!
Ms Jakobsonβs Year 10 History class recently visited the Darwin Military Museum as part of their studies this semester, providing students with a valuable opportunity to explore Australia's military history beyond the classroom. π¦πΊ
Throughout the excursion, students engaged with a wide range of historical artefacts, exhibits, and interactive displays, gaining deeper insight into significant events, people, and experiences that have shaped our nation's history.
By connecting their classroom learning with real-world historical evidence, students were able to strengthen their understanding of key topics studied throughout the semester while developing a greater appreciation for the stories and perspectives behind historical events. π‘π

π Empowering Student Voice for Positive Change
Dripstone Secondary Collegeβs Ambassadors Executive Team recently attended the Together for Humanity Youth Summit in Darwin, joining students from across the Top End to explore how we can build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Throughout the summit, students engaged in important discussions around internalised racism, the root causes of prejudice, and the impact these experiences can have on young people within schools and the wider community.
Working alongside their peers, our student leaders shared ideas and explored practical ways schools can foster cultural pride, celebrate diversity, and create environments where every student feels safe, valued, and empowered to embrace their identity.
The summit provided a valuable opportunity for our Ambassadors Executive Team to hear diverse perspectives, participate in meaningful conversations, and further develop their leadership skills while advocating for inclusion and belonging within our school community. π
We are incredibly proud of the way our student leaders represented Dripstone Secondary College and their commitment to helping create a school culture where everyone feels respected, connected, and supported. ππ
