It’s time to get involved.

What we are building isn't just a music project. It’s an opportunity to create 10 new Greek musicians who will go on to inspire another 10, and keep that cycle moving. We want to get kids back into creativity, give them a real challenge, and help them build memories that will stay with them forever.

Growing up in Melbourne with a Greek Cypriot background, I was incredibly lucky. I got to experience the best of our community, the festivals, and the live events. I made memories of a lifetime.

But over the years I’ve noticed a massive shift. The culture around live music is fading and the opportunities for aspiring musicians are disappearing. When I was younger I looked up to local entertainers, listened to records and read about them in the Greek papers. Today's youth are missing out on those exact same experiences.

The original custodians of our music and dance built everything with pure heart and a strong community backing them. Today, our community has grown. We have so many educated professionals and business leaders, which means we now have the skills and knowledge to build even better systems to support our youth.

I want to use our shared nostalgia to inspire Australian Greeks to back a real cultural movement.

Our parents and grandparents sacrificed their youth and their adulthoods just so we can proudly call ourselves Greek Australians, enjoy our souvlaki and dance a zeibekiko. It's time we expect more of ourselves and what we contribute to this heritage. If not for us, then in appreciation of the generations before us, and for the future of our kids.

Be a part of writing a new chapter in our culture.

If you're a business or an individual who understands how important this is and wants to help sponsor and fund these young musicians, please send me a DM.

Let's make this happen together. Please share this post to help spread the word

What an unforgettable night.

A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support Bouzouki Symphony. Having over 160 people pack out the room, singing along and dancing, made every single rehearsal and late night completely worth it. Looking out from the stage and seeing that kind of energy in the room was truly special.

So proud of all our players on stage, from our youngest right through to the older boys. You all played with so much heart and discipline.

A huge thank you to:

* The Normanby Manor and the Stavrakis family for hosting us and looking after everyone so well
* Nickolas Makrynakis and Kaliroy for sharing their incredible talent with us
* Chris Nicolaidis and Jim Kalaitzis for all their support, guidance, and dedication to making this happen

Thank you to everyone behind the scenes, and to our families and friends who packed the place out.

On to the next one.

BOUZOUKI SYMPHONY - INFLUENCES

You can’t build a "Bouzouki Symphony" without honoring the foundations. When we talk about the influences that shaped the instrument's identity, Giorgos Zambetas is at the core. He didn't just play; he gave the bouzouki a voice with his unmistakable, fluid, and heavy right-hand drive.

Beyond the technical brilliance, he brought pure charisma, street-level soul, and an infectious joy that remains a benchmark for every serious player. His work proved that the bouzouki could be cinematic, explosive, and profoundly human.

That spirit and respect for the masters fuel this entire project. Swipe through, soak in the legacy, and tell me: what’s your all-time favorite Zambetas tune to hear live? Master

Where the heart takes over and you break into dance.

We can run the tunes over and over, drilling the parts until our hands hurt. But at some point, the thinking has to stop.

You hear that tempo drop into the pocket, the bouzoukia hit together, and you just can't sit still anymore. Even the dog is wondering what just happened.

This is the whole point of why we get together and play. Real energy, no filter, straight from the chest.

Can’t wait to bring this spirit to the stage next Friday.

The Influences - Series

The Transformative Impact of Manolis Chiotis and Mary Linda on Greek Music

The Bouzouki Before Chiotis
• Before the 1950s, the bouzouki was strictly an underground solo instrument, built around single-line melodies and raw modal scales.
• But Manolis Chiotis saw an instrument capable of entire symphonic worlds, fundamentally changing Greek music forever.

Chiotis's Innovation with the Four-Course Bouzouki
• By popularising the four-course (tetrachordo) bouzouki, he unlocked modern Western chord structures, chromatic runs, and unprecedented speed—turning the instrument from a traditional solo voice into a powerful new force.

The Electrifying Duo of Chiotis and Linda
• That revolutionary sound reached its peak alongside Mary Linda, whose powerhouse vocals and effortless swing perfectly matched his lightning arpeggios, creating the most electrifying duo in Greek music history.

Global Reach and Lasting Legacy
• Together, they carried the bouzouki out of the tavernas and onto global concert stages, proving it belonged in complex, layered harmony.
• When you hear 10 bouzoukia locked in harmony, you are hearing the very world Chiotis and Linda built.
