BRINGING TRAINING TO COUNTRY
We are incredibly honoured to announce that SJT Training has been awarded $2.28 million in funding from the Australian Government through its Mobile TAFE initiative!
For many Aboriginal Territorians living remotely, accessing training can mean travelling long distances or leaving Country, family and community. This funding will help us take high-quality, practical training directly to the communities where it can be aligned to local needs.
Through this investment we will be delivering a mobile heavy plant and equipment training project on the Tiwi Islands in partnership with the Tiwi Islands Training and Employment Board (TITEB). It will provide nationally accredited Civil Construction training on Country, creating employment and up-skilling pathways into infrastructure, mining, local government, transport and land management industries.
Importantly, the impact of this investment will extend beyond the initial Tiwi project. The mobile training unit, equipment and resources established through the funding will significantly expand SJT Trainingโs long-term capacity to deliver nationally accredited training in regional and remote communities across the Northern Territory.
We sincerely thank the Federal Minister for Skills and Training, the Hon Andrew Giles MP, and the Australian Government for investing in this important initiative.
We also acknowledge the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training for its partnership in developing the Territoryโs Mobile TAFE proposal and thank the Northern Territory Minister for Education and Training, the Hon Jo Hersey-Member for Katherine, for her continued support for expanding training opportunities in regional and remote communities.
