Year 11 student Travalia from Mamaruni School is celebrating an exciting milestone after recently commencing a school-based traineeship with the Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA) at the ALPA Store in Minjilang. 😄🙌
Her journey began at the Minjilang Careers Expo in October 2025, where she connected🤝 with Apprenticeships Northern Territory and learnt💭 more about traineeship pathways available to young people in the region. Following the expo, Travalia pursued the opportunity and successfully secured her traineeship, allowing her to gain valuable workplace experience while continuing her schooling.
Travalia is the first school-based trainee to work at the Minjilang Store, with her experience highlighting✨ the opportunities available for students. It also showcases the benefits of collaboration between schools and community to support meaningful pathways for young people. 😊

We are proud to celebrate a group of students from Jilkminggan School who have successfully completed a Certificate I in Hospitality through the Vocational Education and Training for Secondary Students (VETfSS) program! ✅👏
Students worked impressively hard, gaining valuable hands-on skills and real insight🔎 into hospitality careers within their own community.
Across the program, students completed industry-relevant units including safe work practices, food safety hygiene, teamwork, customer service, espresso coffee preparation and simple dish preparation. 👌
A key highlight✨ included an excursion to the Mataranka Bakery, where students worked alongside local staff in a real commercial kitchen environment, experiencing firsthand how their classroom learning translates into real workplace skills. 🤝
The program has had a great impact, with all students now keen to continue into a Certificate II in Hospitali-ty later this year. Well done to all! 🥳

More than 600 secondary students from 7 schools gathered for the Central Australia Careers Expo recently which was designed to inform, inspire, and connect young people with future education and career opportunities. 🤝✨
The jam-packed day saw students learn about further studies and scholarships available. They enjoyed meaningful conversations💭 with tertiary institutions, training providers and industry organisations, and participated in interactive and hands-on activities.
👨🍳🍓Adding to the day’s atmosphere, Year 9 students from Centralian Middle School prepared some delicious refreshments for stallholders as part of their Certificate I in Hospitality VET for Secondary Students pro-gram.
Regional events like the expo play an important role in helping shape future decisions for our Territory stu-dents. They also showcase strong the collaboration between schools, education providers and industry partners – all working towards the same end goal of student success in and beyond school. 🙌

Year 5/6 students at Anula Primary School have had a busy semester participating in the OzHarvest Food Education and Sustainability Training (FEAST) program. 👨🍳
The education program allows students to explore the issue of food waste and its environmental impact, while learning about positive food choices and easy classroom cooking. 🍳
Anula students have enjoyed the opportunity to make some delicious food with their peers while learning about all things nutrition. Some students have even taken their new skills home to cook for their families! 😍
Students are now looking forward to their next creative project where they’ll design and write their very own classroom cookbook. We can’t wait to hear all about this! 🙌
