🏉 NRLW Dragons at Kanahooka HS! 🔴 ⚪️

Today, KHS girls from Years 8–12 with an interest in rugby league had an incredible opportunity to learn from some of the best in the game!

Our students took part in a coaching and mentoring session led by Illawarra Steelers Head Coach Courtney Crawford, alongside Dragons NRLW players Shenae Ciesiolka and Ella Koster, and Illawarra Steelers rising star Montoya Hudson.

The experience and talent on hand was impressive:
• Shenae Ciesiolka – two-time NRLW Premiership winner with the Broncos and current Queensland Origin representative
• Ella Koster – Dragons second rower and NSW Under 19 Origin representative
• Montoya Hudson – Illawarra Steelers wing/fullback and Queensland Under 19 Origin representative
Courtney and Ella are both inspirational local Illawarra success stories, and together with Shenae’s premiership and representative experience and Montoya’s emerging talent, they provided our girls with some outstanding role models.

Importantly, Courtney and the players took the time to genuinely connect with our students.

Through a series of skills and drills, encouragement and positive conversations, they challenged the girls to back themselves and embrace opportunities in their efforts at school as they do on the sporting field.

The program will continue when Courtney and the team return to Kanahooka on Wednesday 16 September.

A special thank you to Courtney, Shenae, Ella and Montoya for investing their time and energy in our students, and a huge well done to our KHS girls for stepping outside their comfort zones, having a go and making the most of an opportunity to connect with some incredible role models.

📚🎉 Next week is Children’s Book Week! To celebrate, our library staff have organised a variety of fun craft activities during lunch and recess breaks to help you unleash your inner child 🎨.

Plus, we’ve started receiving the first of many exciting large book orders, arriving over the next few weeks! We encourage everyone to borrow a book next week; why not pick a classic children’s picture book to share with your brothers, sisters, or cousins?

As a special treat, every student who borrows a book next week will receive an edible reward 🍬 while growing their literacy skills. It’s a win-win!

Year 12 Pie Drive – Pick Up Tomorrow!
