Lakelands Public School - Communication

Throughout the year, some SRC students have been writing letters to their Grand Buddies at St Luke’s Anglicare Retirement Village. Today, we got to visit our pen pals and have a morning of bracelet making, rock painting, board games, a giant Jenga game, hoopla and golf putting! We loved making new lifelong friends and hope to see them again soon. Thank you SRC students for your beautiful manners, easy going natures and gorgeous behaviour 💕💌💕

Due to the weather, today's athletics awards will now be taking place in the hall at 2:30. A full list of students receiving awards is on display outside the school office. We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to celebrate our students' sporting achievements!

Have you heard the news! Our wonderful P&C are funding a disco for the last day of term! It is for all students and completely free!

Kindergarten had the absolute best day in Kiama today. Perfect weather and so much fun! Here is a tiny sneak peak at some of our adventures....more to come! 🐟🐠🐬🐋🪸

We can't wait for Kindergarten Orientation to begin on Friday.

Make sure you are ready to meet the Kindergarten teachers outside the Kindergarten rooms (near the flagpole) for your child's session.
Session 1: 9:15-10am
Session 2: 10:15-11am
Session 3: 11:30-12:15

For this session, children will be enjoying a play based session and mums and dads, will have lots of forms to fill out while they wait!

Yesterday was our first ever Lakelands Science Fair! 48 budding scientists from Kindy to Year 6 filled the hall with amazing projects, from plants grown in shoes to stinky food-scrap gases.
We were lucky to have Dapto High School science teachers Mr Vincent and Mr Trist join us as judges. They were very impressed by both the projects and how confidently students spoke about their process and what they learnt. They had a tough job deciding on the winners!

All Lakelands students visited the hall to check out the projects and vote for their favourites for the People's Choice awards.
Winners will be announced at next week's SRC Assembly.

Parents: if your child is receiving an award, Ms Field will message you via Sentral, but please keep it a surprise! If your child is selected as a winner, they will be representing the school at the DLC Science Fair in Week 9.

A big thank you to Mrs O'Reilly, Mrs Wright, Mr Schaefer, Mr McCarthy and Mr Colbran for their support on the day, and to Fun Club for helping set up the hall.

Finally, a huge THANK YOU to the parents — we know science projects take a lot of time and guidance, especially for our littlest learners. We really appreciate your support, and hope you enjoyed watching your child's curiosity come to life - we did!

We are incredibly excited to announce that our school community has already raised an AMAZING $15,500 towards new playground equipment! 🤩👏 What a fantastic effort — thank you to everyone who has registered, fundraised and supported our students so far!

👕 Don’t forget: Students are encouraged to wear WHITE on the day for maximum colour effect! The whiter the clothes…the more colourful it will be by the end! 🌈
