π± Waterlily Room Garden Adventure π±
Today, the children in the Waterlily Room enjoyed getting their hands dirty as they planted seeds in our garden. This hands-on experience provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about nature, how plants grow, and the importance of caring for our environment.
The children carefully planted their seeds, covered them with soil, and gave them a gentle drink of water. There was lots of excitement as they talked about what their seeds might grow into and what plants need to thrive.
We can't wait to watch our garden grow and see the children's curiosity and wonder continue to blossom alongside their plants! πΏπ

This week, the children participated in a range of experiences to celebrate National Reconciliation Week. Through stories, discussions, and creative activities, they explored the importance of respect, inclusion, and learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
We are proud to support children in developing an appreciation for Australia's rich cultural heritage and the importance of reconciliation.

ππ’ World Ocean Day Learning π’π
Today, the children explored the importance of World Ocean Day and learned why keeping our oceans clean is so important. Together, we discussed how rubbish and waste can affect sea animals and their habitats, with the children sharing thoughtful ideas about ways we can help protect our oceans.
To extend their learning, the children participated in a hands-on activity where they carefully removed pieces of waste that were stuck on a turtle. As they helped make the turtle happy and safe again, the children demonstrated empathy, kindness, and a growing understanding of environmental responsibility.
We are so proud of the children's enthusiasm and commitment to caring for our planet and the creatures that call it home. ππ

π Insect Exploration and Sensory Play πΏ
The children at Mayfield Dandenong showed a wonderful interest in insects while exploring the garden bed outdoors. The children eagerly searched under leaves and in the soil, excitedly looking for bugs and talking about their discoveries along the way. ππ
To extend this interest, educators created an insect sensory play experience using sand, natural materials, toy insects, and magnifying glasses to resemble a garden environment. The children enthusiastically explored the space, using magnifying glasses to inspect the insects closely and creating small habitats with leaves and sticks. ππ
This engaging experience encouraged curiosity, imaginative play, sensory exploration, communication, and fine motor development while supporting the childrenβs growing connection with nature and living things. π±β¨
