CELEBRATING THE PEOPLE AT THE HEART OF ST JOHN’S
Last week brought two very special days of celebration, reflection and service to the St John’s Regional College community. On Thursday evening, our staff and School Advisory Council gathered for our annual dinner – a wonderful evening of delicious food and heartfelt speeches celebrating the people who give so much to our College.
We were delighted to welcome special guests Sr Judy Bellesini, Ms Anne Young, Br Tony Cummins and Fr Joby George, helping us celebrate the traditions and community that continue to shape St John’s. We also acknowledged School Advisory Council Chair, Ms Cathy Pascal, who is stepping down after several years of dedicated service. We sincerely thank Cathy for her valued leadership, support and commitment to St John’s and wish her well for the future.
A highlight was recognising some extraordinary milestones:
⭐20 Years of Service: Ms Ursula Borg, Ms Sue Mulholland and Ms Angela Blaak
⭐40 Years of Service: Ms Anne Aldis. Four decades of service is an incredible achievement, representing generations of students, families and colleagues whose lives have been touched along the way.
The evening saw Sr Judy Bellesini present the Sr Margaret Bellesini Award to Ms Anne Aldis. Named in honour of the Presentation Sister who led the Middle School during St John’s early years, the award recognises a staff member who lives out our Presentation and Lasallian values through both words and actions.
On Friday, that spirit of service continued with our Staff Spirituality Day – Justice for All. The day began with keynote speaker Fr Brendan Connell, reflection and the celebration of the Eucharist, before staff headed into the community for an afternoon of volunteering – supporting primary schools, aged-care residents, Wellsprings for Women, community organisations and projects here at St John’s.
Two days with one powerful message: education is about people, service, community and making a difference.
To our long-serving staff, award recipients and every member of our St John’s community who brings their expertise, compassion and commitment to our students each day – thank you.
