Our Prep students were excited to welcome some very special visitors into their classrooms this week - a mother rabbit, Mrs. Brown, and her six adorable kittens (yes, baby rabbits are called kittens!).
As part of our Integrated unit on the Needs and Care of Living Things, students have been learning about how to care for animals by observing the rabbits closely, discussing what they need to stay healthy and safe, and showing gentle and responsible handling.
The classrooms have been filled with excitement, curiosity, and lots of smiles as students connect their learning with real-life experiences. We look forward to continuing to care for our furry friends while learning all about living things!

Observation in action!
The extended warm weather in Term 1 allowed for some fabulous arthropod spotting in the sanctuary during Environmental Education sessions.
Eagle-eyed students spotted a St Andrew’s Cross spider, Crane Fly and a very well camouflaged spider on a tree!

Over this term, the Year 3/4 students have been joyfully learning an Australian bush dance called the “Heel and Toe.” They’ve done a wonderful job staying in time with the music and dancing together as a team. We’ve had so much fun along the way and are excited for our big dance, where all the Year 3/4 students will come together to dance at the same time!

Our Year 1/2 students had a wonderful day on their excursion to Mont De Lancy!
They stepped back in time and experienced life in the past, watching a blacksmith at work, even helping to turn the hot metal. They saw a wood turner make spinning toys, and explored old machines. Students also visited an old church where they rang the tower bell, saw an old kitchen and toilet, and experienced what school was like long ago by writing on blackboards.
Students also got to play olden day games including billy carts, tug of war, quoits, stilts, and skipping with the ropes they made themselves.
A fantastic day full of learning, history, and fun!

The Preps and the Year 5/6 students have been very excited to meet their buddies this term! They have been enjoying getting to know each other by asking questions, sharing stories, and discovering the things they have in common. It has been wonderful to see the Preps’ faces light up when they spot their buddies in the yard, often running over with big smiles to say hello. The buddy program has already created many happy moments and new friendships.

On 18th February, our enthusiastic Grade 3/4 students from Croydon Primary School headed out on an exciting excursion to explore the rich local history of our community!
As part of our Integrated Studies focus on Australian History, students visited the Croydon Historical Society Museum and the Croydon Library to dive into Croydon’s fascinating past.
At the museum, students explored historical artefacts, photographs, and stories that showcased how Croydon has changed over time. They loved discovering what school life, transport, and daily living looked like many years ago!
At the library, students had the opportunity to engage with local history resources and deepen their understanding of how communities grow and evolve.
This hands-on learning experience brought our classroom studies to life and helped students make meaningful connections between local history and the broader story of Australia.
A big thank you to the staff and volunteers who made the day so engaging and informative. We are so proud of our students for the curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm they showed throughout the excursion!

Over the last two weeks students from years 3-6 have enjoyed the opportunity to get back up to the sanctuary during Environmental Education sessions. We have noticed great changes especially with the coming of the Kulin nation season Buath Gurru (grass flowering season).
We were excited to see a small meadow of native chocolate lilies have appeared - with many more than last year!

Last week the 3/4's enjoyed two fun filled nights of camp at Anglesea. The students explored the beach, climbed the rock wall, balanced along the low ropes course, cooked damper on the fire and experienced the flying fox. We had so much fun together! We are so proud of the way the students challenged themselves and embraced camp. Well done super stars!

The Prep students have been busy learning about location this week in Numeracy. They've been building their maths vocabulary through hands-on activities, designing creative obstacle courses for their bugs to navigate the classroom. A highlight of the week has been using directional language to program our Bee Bots.

At the end of Term 3, 25 students from 5/6 took part in the Mass Choir section of State School Spectacular ‘On Air’. All their dedication really paid off on the Saturday when they performed in two shows (second show being sold out). It was truly amazing to see these children in their element, singing and dancing together. Well done to all the participants and staff that made this possible.
