When working to improve handwriting, we often use cursive writing to assist with overcoming old habits such as formational issues. It is easier for the brain to learn something new, forming new connections, rather than trying to dismantle that which was previously ingrained. Changes in visual control also help to position letters and numbers horizontally without deviating from the line.
