Fun, high-quality German language classes for kids aged 4 - 18 in face-to-face and online classes. Learn German in a fun and efficient way. Children e.g.

Deutschstunde is proud to offer the German Language Diploma (Deutsche Sprachdiplom) in Australia. Highly differentiated courses are offered to children from preschool to high school age. We are presently running a variety of different classes on Mondays and Tuesdays commensurate to student’s level of skill and age group, both as face-to-face and online classes. We are proud to be offering the Deutsche Sprachdiplom (DSDI and DSDII) for advanced teenagers and young adults. Our students are split into various groups based on their age as well as their command of the German language. from German speaking families who live in Australia and whose focus is on improved writing and reading, will be grouped together. Children who only have little (e.g. through one German parent or grandparent) or no exposure to German will be grouped together. Classes sizes are kept small to ensure an intensive learning environment. All classes are taught by qualified German teachers.

Professional Learning in Action!
Today two of our Deutschstunde teachers attended the Australian Annual German Teachers Conference: a fantastic day of exploring new teaching materials, sharing ideas, and connecting with colleagues from schools across the country.

It was also a great opportunity to meet with the representative from the ZfA and colleagues from other DSD schools to strengthen the partnerships that support high‑quality German learning in our community.

Always learning, always growing for our students and for our school.

The Deutschstunde Team had a wonderful time celebrating German Unity Day at the Museum of Contemporary Art this week. It was a warm and inspiring evening filled with great conversations, thoughtful speeches, and a fantastic atmosphere shared with friends from across the German Australian community.

We’re very grateful for the kind invitation, for the chance to be part of this memorable celebration and for the opportunity to celebrate alongside so many dedicated individuals who strengthen German language and culture in Australia.

“Ich mag…” was the theme of the day for our Kindy online classes. After a fun guessing game, our Kindy students raided the playroom to find the perfect object to show off. Fun start of Term 4!

Deutschstunde is back for Term 4! We’re excited to be in the classroom again, ready for another round of fun German learning!

Our Y3 class started their lesson with the ABC Lied to warm up, whilst our Y6 class had the hard choice which German poem to choose for their upcoming poem presentation!

Gefährlich gut mit der Gangsta Oma!

Last week, our Year 5 Deutschstunde students had a blast diving into David Walliams' hilarious Gangsta-Oma! Still fully concentrated at work, they practiced their German discussing family, grandmothers with secret double lives, and why you should never judge a book by its cover.

Huge Congratulations!
We are beyond proud to share that two of our Deutschstunde students have been recognized at the Minister's Awards for Excellence in Student Achievement in Community Languages Schools!

Out of more than 36,000 students studying community languages across New South Wales, both received a prestigious Highly Commended Award for their exceptional dedication and achievements in learning German.

Wearing their traditional outfits with pride, they accepted their Certificates of Excellence at the official award ceremony. Seeing their hard work and passion for the German language celebrated on such a grand stage is an incredible inspiration to our entire school community!

A massive thank you to our passionate teachers, supportive families, and the NSW Department of Education for making achievements like this possible.

Our online class turned into a mini brainstorming festival yesterday! Who knew coming up with words for the letters in "Apfelbaum" during the online class could unleash this much imagination from our young Deutschstunde students!

Die Woche der mündlichen DSD Prüfungen bei Deutschstunde!
Yesterday our DSD II students completed their oral exams with focus, confidence and plenty of determination.

Today it’s part of our big DSD I cohorts’ turn. We’re keeping our fingers crossed and cheering them on as they take this important step!
