📚🎉 What a joyful Book Week it has been!

The children had so much fun dressing up as their favourite book characters, sharing costumes and stories with pride and excitement. Story and group time brought lots of listening, looking closely at colourful pictures, and lovely conversations about what they could see — supporting language, attention and a growing love of reading.

Music was another highlight, with singing and nursery rhymes bringing rhythm, movement and confidence, while outdoor sandpit play encouraged creativity, teamwork and sensory exploration.

Such a wonderful week of imagination, connection and self-expression, all inspired by a love of stories! 🎶🏖️

📚🎉 What a wonderful, joyful Book Week celebration!

Our youngest friends had a lovely time exploring music and sound together, shaking maracas, tapping xylophones and drums, and enjoying the rhythm and connection of shared play. There was lots of curiosity and delight as little hands reached, explored and made music side by side.

We also had so much fun dressing up in costume and sitting down together for storytime, sharing favourite tales and enjoying cosy, connected moments as a group.

Celebrating stories and sound together is such a beautiful way to build imagination, language and a real love of books and music from an early age. 🎶💛

☀️📚 What a wonderful, sunshine-filled Book Week it has been in the Bilbies' room!

The children had so much fun dressing up as their favourite characters and sharing their love of stories with friends and educators — with plenty of costumes on our side too! Thank you to everyone who sent books from home — exploring different stories together sparked lovely conversations about characters, events and ideas, supporting language, imagination and a growing love of reading.

The children have also been busy creating something special and heartfelt for the important people in their lives, putting real thought and care into their artwork — we can't wait for these to be shared soon!

Alongside all of this, there's been plenty of painting, creating, playing and exploring, with curiosity, confidence and friendships continuing to grow through everyday play. 🌻

Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend full of sunshine and special moments. See you all next week!

👶💛 A wonderful, curious conversation unfolded in our room this week!

Building on the children's ongoing interest in families and babies through their dramatic play, we shared a lovely story about how babies grow. The children thought carefully about size, change and growth over time, drawing on what they already knew and building beautifully on it with new ideas.

There were thoughtful questions and fascinating discoveries along the way, including learning about the special connection between a mother and baby, and wondering together about how babies grow and are cared for before birth.

It was lovely to see the children's curiosity guide the conversation, connecting their real-life experiences with new understanding about growth and change. 🌱

We'll continue supporting this investigation with books, dolls and dramatic play as their interest and questions continue to unfold.

Hello lovely families! 🍃

A simple everyday hiccup turned into a beautiful moment of discovery this week!

While drawing outdoors, the children noticed their pencils kept breaking as they sharpened them. Rather than seeing this as a problem to fix quickly, we paused and wondered together — why might this be happening? The children shared their own theories, testing ideas and thinking it through as a group.

To make use of those shorter pencils, we tried something a little different — placing a leaf beneath paper and rubbing gently to reveal its shape, veins and patterns. It sparked real curiosity, along with lovely moments of children supporting one another, showing patience and sharing tips to help a friend succeed.

These small, unplanned moments often lead to the richest learning — noticing, wondering, problem-solving and helping each other along the way. 🌿

We're looking forward to extending this exploration soon, taking a closer look at the natural and everyday patterns all around us!

A little bit of magic sparked big curiosity in our room this week!

The children were introduced to a special candle they could blow out — only to watch, wide-eyed, as it seemed to relight all on its own! This playful mystery led to wonderful investigation, with children looking closely, sharing theories and working out how it worked.

Beyond the fun and wonder, this experience had a gentle purpose — introducing a simple breathing strategy, "smell the flower, blow out the candle," to help support children in calming their bodies and managing big emotions.

We'll continue practising this technique during calm, quiet moments, so children can build a strategy they can use confidently on their own when they need it. 💛

Hello lovely families! 🔬🌈

Science Week brought colourful discoveries to our room this week!

The children explored the question: what happens when we mix primary colours together? Using pipettes, they carefully combined yellow and blue dye, watching closely as a brand new colour appeared — green! It was a lovely, hands-on way to observe change, make predictions and share their thinking.

We extended the learning through a favourite colour-mixing story, along with sign language and song, giving the children different ways to explore and express their understanding of colour.

We'll be continuing this investigation soon, introducing new colours to mix, predict and discover! 🎨✨

Hello lovely families! 🏠

Some brilliant building and problem-solving happened this week!

Working alongside each other, the children used construction materials to design their own spaces — a cosy house and a special "cat hole" entrance among the creations. Each child tested their design by climbing through, checking whether the size and shape actually worked, and adjusting their thinking along the way.

Earlier in the day, they'd also worked together to build a garage, showing lovely collaboration, planning and shared purpose.

It was wonderful to see creativity, spatial thinking and problem-solving come together as ideas were built, tested and refined through play. 🧱✨

We're looking forward to extending this construction adventure further, with new materials and big questions to explore!

Hello lovely families! 🐾

An exciting surprise visitor sparked wonderful curiosity outdoors this week!

While enjoying afternoon tea, the children spotted a possum climbing down a nearby tree. Full of excitement, they watched closely as it made its way to fresh shoots high in the branches, sparking lively discussion and theories about what possums like to eat.

As the children continued observing, they began noticing patterns in the possum's behaviour — eating, resting and moving through its day — leading to rich conversation about how animals live and what their bodies need.

It was a beautiful, unplanned moment of real wildlife connection, with the children asking questions, sharing ideas and thinking like little scientists. 🌳✨

We'll be extending this learning further, exploring what possums naturally eat and how to observe wildlife safely and respectfully.
