🌱 Exciting STEM Update! 🌱

Last Friday's STEM lesson was a great success with our aeroponics project! Our seedlings are growing strong and healthy, and we’re thrilled to share that they’ll be ready to place into the aeroponics stands this week.

📖Creative Morning with Local Artist and author Tia K Carrigan📖😀

Last Thursday, our students visited North Star Public School for a special event with Tia K Carrigan, a local artist, author, and former Boomi Public School student. Tia shared her journey and read from her books about believing in yourself and following your own path. She also led a fun art lesson, teaching everyone how to draw birds. Tia’s colourful murals brighten many spots in the local area and around Goondiwindi. Thank you, Tia, for a great morning! Thanks also to North Star and Tulloona Public Schools for hosting and organising the event. It was a memorable morning for everyone involved!

🌟 Jump Rope for Heart Reminder 🌟
Our school is excited to be taking part in Jump Rope for Heart this year! Information was recently shared in our school newsletter, and the Parents and Guardians Guide that has also been sent home. This is a friendly reminder for families who may not have had the opportunity to register yet.
A big thank you to the students who have already signed up and started their Jump Rope for Heart journey. We'd love to see even more students join in the fun as we work towards our school fundraising goal of $300!

🏉🎉 Croppa Creek students shined at the Touch Football Gala Day in Inverell last week!

Our stage 2 team competed in 4 games, winning 3 and drawing 1. The stage 3 team also played 4 games, winning 3 and losing just 1.

What a fantastic way to gear up for their upcoming Sydney trip to compete in the Small Schools Touch Football Knockout. Well done to all the players for their sportsmanship and skill on the field! 💪👏

📖Pre-school Reading📖

Our Yr 5 and 6 students read to the our pre-school friends last week, and they did an amazing job. Not only did they manage to keep pre-school aged children engaged with their storytelling, but they made the Yr 4 students jealous and now they want in on the reading action. So next week, we will have even more primary readers!

💻STEM Project: Microbits💻

As part of our Sustainability STEM Project this year, which includes a focus on gardening, we have been doing some coding using Microbits. We first did Microbits this year during our CCPS hosted STEM Day with Gravesend Public School and Pallamallawa Public School. Then we coded a simple 'rock, paper, scissors' game. Next we coded a pedometer, and then this week we coded our first code related to the gardening project, a thermometer. Students tested the temperature in different parts of the school. Because the screen is so small, the Microbit, only displays one number at a time, but it is still extremely cool how such a small computer can be programmed with code to do so many different things. Look out for more coding exploration to come!

🪴On Fridays, we're excited to be learning about Aeroponics using the T4L kit! Last Friday we caught up with some weeding of the vegetable garden and kicked off our hands-on journey by planting strawberry seeds. We can't wait to watch them grow in our aeroponic system.
