Let your kids ride these in public? Your house is on the line if someone gets hurt. Wake up.

Over the past month, police officers from Camden PAC have seized two high-powered electric motorcycles from youths riding in public places in Oran Park. These are high-performance machines, each valued at over $7,000, and capable of speeds between 70–90km/h, with rapid acceleration due to instant electric torque. In NSW, these types of motorcycles are classified as motor vehicles and are not permitted to be ridden on footpaths, parks or public roads. Police are increasingly encountering these bikes being ridden illegally in suburban streets, shared paths and recreational areas, creating a significant risk to pedestrians, riders and other road users, particularly due to their quiet operation and ability to reach high speeds quickly. Parents and guardians should be aware that allowing a young person to ride one of these motorcycles unlawfully may result in fines, seizure of the bike and further legal consequences. Police will continue proactive patrols and enforcement action in relation to the illegal use of these high-powered electric motorcycles to help keep the community safe.

This footage is confronting.

Queensland has just introduced significant new restrictions on e-bikes and e-micromobility devices.

Yet the behaviour shown here—running red lights, ignoring traffic controls and taking risks around vehicles—is already illegal.

Will the new laws change this behaviour?

We believe lasting improvements will come from better education, clear accountability through lite registration and then followed up with enforcement.
