On Friday, PLEEC held their annual Kitchen Garden Program Expo. This year it was kindly hosted by Samuel Terry Public.
It was an amazing day where students from participating schools gathered and shared presentations on their gardens, followed by a tour of the Samuel Terry kitchen garden!
After this, it was time to turn up the heat with THE COOK OFF!

Bits of veggies rained through a cloud of flour as the kids grated, chopped and cooked up a delicious storm!!

The food was then enjoyed by all and it was something that should definitely be commended. Fresh, delicious and nutritious - yum!

We thank everyone involved and encourage more schools to get involved in this invaluable, ongoing program.

Please contact us to find out more.

Trading the river, lakes and gum trees of Western Sydney for the sandstone canyons of the C*D for science week 2026.

Yes, that’s a spotted quoll, a turtle shell, and some very live blue-tongue lizards in my hands. They definitely get you some funny looks on the morning commute.

PLEEC ventured to the heart of Sydney, to the Australian Museum for to talk about conservation, biodiversity, and why protecting our endangered species matters—no matter where we live. Out of my element? Maybe. On a mission? Absolutely.

The message of sustainability and biodiversity belongs everywhere—especially here.Time to talk about biodiversity and conservation 😎

As part of National Science Week, our Stage 5 Drama students visited our Nepean Learning Community partner schools- Emu Plains Public School, Emu Heights Public School and Leonay Public School to bring the story of Wombat Stew to life.
In collaboration with Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre, students explored Australian wildlife, biodiversity and caring for our environment through hands-on activities, including creating their own Wombat Stew using ingredients sourced from their school grounds.
A wonderful celebration of science, creativity and community! 🎭🦘🌱

What a wonderful day we had with these amazing extension drama students from Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School
They directed and performed an interpretation of wombat stew that included mention of animal adaptations, biodiversity, the need for conservation and environmental awareness and care.

These kids blew us away with their unique take on the Australian childhood classic tale. It was just a pleasure watching them engage younger students from Emu Plains Public School, Leonay Public School and Emu Heights Public School.

Ms G was very impressed and looks forward to making many more wombat stews in the future 🍲

We couldn't fault the day spent with Strathfield Girls High School. The weather was spot on, the teachers were engaged and hands on and the students had a blast, collecting data on the health of the freshwater ecosystem at Penrith Lakes.

We barely needed to do the hard work... just take a look at that water 😎 it speaks for itself - top notch quality 👍🏼
