Remembering Ski Camp ❄️⛷️
As we celebrate our 50th Year, we remember one of the great and much-loved camps in Cranbourne Secondary College history .......Ski Camp!
During the snow season, eager groups of students, accompanied by our enthusiastic Phys Ed teachers, would head up to the mountains for an adventure that was a world away from the everyday experience of Cranbourne.
There were winding mountain roads, snowy slopes, campfires, snowmen, plenty of cold fingers and toes and, above all, lots of fun!
For many students, Ski Camp was a wonderful learning experience and an opportunity to try something completely different. Friendships were made, new skills were discovered and memories were created that have lasted for decades.
It was more than just a school camp it was an adventure that students and staff looked forward to year after year.
Did you go on Ski Camp?
We'd love to hear about your memories and experiences. What do you remember most, the skiing, the snow, the campfires, the teachers or simply having a great time with your friends?
As we look back over 50 years of memories, perhaps one day we'll return to the mountains and make some new ones!

Looking Back - 2008
The Big Payback

In 2008, the students decided to take the writing of the school production into their own hands and the result was The Big Payback.

Featuring Ryan Anderson, the show was a fantastic rock ’n’ roll romp, packed with youthful energy, enthusiasm and plenty of fun. It was one of those productions where the personality of the students shone through from beginning to end.

I was there behind the camera, filming the production and capturing those moments of infectious energy ,the performances, the laughter, the excitement and the sheer enthusiasm of young people throwing themselves into something they clearly loved.

Looking back through those moments, what stands out most is the youthfulness and spirit of the time. The students weren't simply putting on a school show; they were creating something of their own and having an enormous amount of fun along the way.

The Big Payback was a memorable rock ’n’ roll adventure and another wonderful snapshot of the creativity, confidence and character that have always been such an important part of our school community.

Were you there? Were you in the cast, behind the scenes or sitting in the audience?

If you remember The Big Payback, we'd love to hear your story.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Benjamin Pereira, Class of 2008, who returned to share his inspiring journey with a group of Year 11 VCE VM students. Ben spoke about his pathway into a carpentry apprenticeship after completing Year 11 and his current role as a Heavy Equipment Operator working on major infrastructure projects across Victoria.

Ben discussed the challenges he faced during school years, growing up in the foster care system and needing to be independent and self-sufficient at a young age. His sheer grit and persistence helped him secure his first apprenticeship, riding his bike to local worksites and asking if anyone would take him on. Despite countless rejections, he eventually found someone willing to give him a chance as a carpentry apprentice.

Ben’s determination has seen him progress from carpentry to furniture restoration and polishing, and ultimately into his current career in construction. It was wonderful to hear Ben’s story and demonstrate to our students what can be achieved through dedication, resilience and tenacity!

Week 35 in our series looking back .....A little bit of college history!
Sam Colomban and Dane Swan were involved in the Choices anti-violence campaign, supported by Collingwood Football Club and the Victorian Department of Justice.
But this got us wondering…
Do you remember a celebrity, professional athlete or well-known person visiting or speaking at the college during your time there?
We’d love to hear your memories who was it, and what do you remember?

A big shout-out to our local school, Cranbourne West Primary School, for the wonderful service you provide to our local community.

Many of our students at Cranbourne Secondary College have come through this wonderful primary school, and it is fantastic to see the important work of the school and its contribution to our community acknowledged in Parliament by Pauline Richards MP.

Remember the Presentation Ball at Cranbourne Secondary College?

The Presentation Ball was a highlight of the school year for many senior students. It was a special night of celebration, excitement and dressing up and a wonderful opportunity for our school photographer, Tom Randa, to capture so many memorable moments.

We’ll be sharing many more of Tom’s photographs at our 50th Anniversary event on October 22 at the College, giving former students the chance to look back at some wonderful memories from years gone by.

Did you take part in a Presentation Ball at Cranbourne Secondary College?

What do you remember about the night? Who was your partner? What did you wear? Do you remember the dancing, the music, your friends or perhaps something that went hilariously wrong?

We’d love to hear your memories and stories. Share them in the comments and help us bring those special school days back to life.

🌏 Celebrating 50 Years of Languages at Cranbourne High Secondary College! 🎉

As Cranbourne High Secondary College celebrates its 50th year, we’re taking a look back at the important role that language learning has played in the life of our school.

In the early years of the College, Indonesian was one of the languages taught and it proved to be a very popular subject with students. 🇮🇩

For many students, learning Indonesian was much more than simply studying words and grammar. It opened a door to another culture and, for some, led to amazing experiences through school tours to Indonesia. Those trips created wonderful memories, friendships and opportunities to experience Indonesian life and culture firsthand.

Did you study Indonesian at Cranbourne High?

What do you remember about being in the Indonesian class? Do you remember your teachers, classmates, lessons, activities or perhaps a memorable trip to Indonesia?

We’d love to hear your positive memories and experiences from those days. ❤️
Let’s celebrate the languages, teachers, students and experiences that have been part of Cranbourne High’s 50-year story.
