Chinese New Year..... Year of the Fire Horse

I love Chinese New Year!

After travelling the world with my family I have definitely enjoyed learning about different cultures and embraced new experiences.

The other day I was reminded of this as My family and I went into Springvale to try some different restaurants and meals.

On our venture to find my bubble tea, I dragged every one into a small store selling all types of chinese traditional ornaments, teas, incense, Zodiac protection charms etc.

The ladies were in love with Cailyn and were
engrossed chatting to us.

I asked them about the year of the horse and they were very happy to go into stories about each animal and encouragingly telling me I needed a protection charm as my Chinese zodiac needed protection this year.

$50 later spent on protection charms, some Chinese ornaments and we said our Goodbyes.

This was such a wholesome experience where I came out of the store feeling greatful to be apart of a world with multiculturalism and diversity and a world where people are willing to teach me about their beliefs and rituals.

So in my teaching these next two weeks I hope I can pass this onto the children in my care, through different experiences and stories

Looking forward to sharing this play space for a little friend who just loves dirt, rocks and vehicles.

This was a special project that involved some very friendly people in our estate.

I reached out for some rocks and dirt and was so overwhelmed by everyone's help with acquiring some resources.

Family daycare is about being apart of a family and a community and this is exactly why I love my job.

And for my own children who walked to each place, used a navigator to find the right house and pick up buckets of rocks and dirt with a mishap along the way involving a broken bucket, and rocks spilling everywhere.

You don't get this type of community spirit in some settings and this shows just how important family daycare is and how we cater to each child's needs and linking our teaching to the broader community.

As summer has well and truly hit us this week, we've spent some creative time indoors exploring water play, and being involved in lots of dramatic play.

The Children have set up their our own ice cream shop( child led play), which then led our play with a bit of an ice cream theme.

The Children have found many ways that they could incorporate ice cream into their play through creativity in role play, matching shapes using icecreams ,using fine motor skills to scoop, pour and count using money to role play and be involved in sharing play based experiences.

Our imaginative spark has really come out this week !

Science Week

During Science Week, the children engaged in a variety of hands-on experiments and explorations designed to spark curiosity and develop early scientific thinking. Activities included magnet testing, sink or float predictions, bouncy ball making, elephant toothpaste, and creating volcano eruptions using different methods.the older children described their predictions, observations, and outcomes during experiments. They used scientific vocabulary such as "magnetic", "float", "sink", "lava", and "eruption".

Through hands-on activities, the children used sensory and visual information to make sense of the world, express ideas, and build understanding.

Respectful Relationships and Collaborative Learning:

The Children worked in small groups, took turns, listened to peers’ ideas, and collaborated during experiments.

Learning Through Play:
Scientific exploration was embedded in play-based experiences that encouraged problem-solving and critical reflection
